🏆🎾 LJMU TENNIS 21/22 🎾🏆

Last week we entered July which meant it was the official changeover date for the committee at LJMU Tennis as we finish the 21/22 season and begin 22/23🤝

This means we officially say our goodbyes to all of our 21/22 graduating players and wish them all the best of luck for the future in whatever they do!👏🏻

Huge shout out to our graduating 21/22 Club Captains Kieran Mooney and Alex Meadowcroft who’ve been with us for 4 and 3 years respectively!🙌🏼

They led us to great success all year round and especially at the LJMU Sports Awards as we picked up Sports Club of the Year, and Kie was awarded Sports Member of the Year!🏆🏆

It’s been a year of even more achievements as our Men’s 1s won the League Title, got to the Cup Final and we beat Uni of Liverpool in Varsity 2022 - a year to remember for a long long time and one that will be hard to beat!🔥

Another shoutout to other 21/22 committee members as Harry Ellis leaves us after captaining our Men’s 2s and we wish the best of luck to Nick Fance and Grace Gamble who continue in the committee for 22/23 captaining the Men’s and Women’s teams respectively!👊🏼

As the 21/22 season sadly comes to an end, we can’t wait for the 22/23 journey to begin - see you then!🎾🔥🏆

🎾 WIMBLEDON 2022 🎾

This week saw the start of Wimbledon 2022 at the All England Tennis Club. Current Club Captain Kieran and next seasons Club Captain Nick took the trip down south to visit this Monday and Tuesday👌🏻

It was a great few days watching the best players in the world compete at the highest level with the weather treating our lads nicely☀️

The lads managed to make it onto all of the show courts across the two days seeing the likes of Murray, Serena, Tsitsipas, Kyrgios and more competing💪🏼

Nice to see a familiar face down there in Ken Skupski and we want to wish him the best of luck in his final Wimbledon this year - all the best mate👊🏼

🎾 TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS 🎾

Here are some training videos of our players from last weeks session with the Skupski Doubles Academy!

The drill taking place taught the players to utilise the area of the court up close to the net, known as the ‘Red Zone’, in order to open up the opportunity for an easy volley put away using a range of grips!😎

The first video here shows Men’s 1st players Kieran and Nick demonstrating this really well!💪🏼

Other videos of the training session are attached in the comments below👇🏼

🎾 SKUPSKI DOUBLES ACADEMY 🎾

Yesterday saw our players take part in a tennis training session with the Skupski Doubles Academy, who focus on improving a players doubles skill set and tactical awareness!🤩

The players had the opportunity to train alongside ATP professional doubles player Ken Skupski, as well as his coach Anthony!

It was a good 3 hours of non stop learning for our students from Ken and Anthony who play and coach at the elite level of our sport. We did some great drills that we can take and use in our future training too!💪🏼

Massive thanks to the guys for coming down and helping us out. It was a great experience for everyone and we look forward to seeing what the future holds together!👌🏻
