A Sound Start: Introductions to Careers in the Music Industry for Secondary School Students
10am-1.30pm
Specially curated for secondary school aged musicians and creatives (and their families), this morning session is the perfect starting point for discovering careers in music. We’ll bust myths about the industry and help you find your creative pathway forward.
You’ll hear from keynote speaker Natasha Hamilton (formerly of Atomic Kitten and founder of Morpho Records) about getting started in the music industry and the endless career options on offer.
“So well-organised, everyone was so welcoming and the people on the panels or leading the workshops were so knowledgeable and encouraging. My son came away absolutely buzzing.”
(Parent of previous Careers Fest attender)
The following topics will be covered in this session:
Music Industry Myth Busting: Separating fact from fiction and showing how passion for music can lead to real, achievable careers.
More than the music: It’s not just about talent. Learn the skills you can start developing at school that help musicians succeed in the real world.
Music Broadcasting: How to develop a career in broadcasting, and how to be a success on the airwaves
Careers in music tech: Discover the growing jobs shaping how music is made, performed, and shared— from sound and stage tech to software, AI and digital tools, and how young people can start building skills now.
Careers for music creators: How to make money from your compositions, arrangements and songwriting.
PLUS hands-on workshops on Sound Mixing, Event Production and many more!
Recommended age groups: Secondary school aged students, and their families/guardians.
Please let me know if you go and what it was like! 🎵
