Opportunity to Join Our Governing Board – Co-Opted Governor Role
Our Governing Board plays a vital role in supporting and challenging the leadership of Banks Road Primary School to ensure the best outcomes for all our children. We are currently looking for new Governors to join our team, specifically individuals with experience in Human Resources (HR) and/or Finance.
You can be a parent/carer of a child attending Banks Road Primary School; however, this role is not a Parent Governor position. Instead, you would serve as a Co-Opted Governor.
What is a Co-Opted Governor?
Co-Opted Governors are appointed by the Governing Board because of the skills and experience they can bring to strengthen governance. They do not represent a specific group (such as parents or staff) but work collectively with other Governors to ensure the school is well-managed and continues to improve.
What does the role involve?
As a Governor, you will:
Attend and participate in Governing Board meetings (six per year, usually after school, lasting no more than two hours).
Complete appropriate training to develop your knowledge and skills.
Uphold the Governing Board’s code of conduct and apply for a DBS enhanced disclosure.
Occasionally join panels or working groups for appointments or specific projects.
Governors are part of a supportive team, and training is provided to help you succeed in the role. It is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to our school community.
If you, or someone you know (a family member, work colleague or friend), would be interested in this role, please contact Mr. Wilson (Headteacher) in the first instance.
Thank you for your continued support.
