A great day today at the official opening of our new shop in Kirkby Town Centre . Thanks to the many people who turned up to enrol on our courses. The sheer amount of people who turned up shows both the demand and need for our services to families in Kirkby!
We will be open and enrolling again from Tuesday 1st September so it’s not to late to call in and see the team if you couldn’t make today.

πŸŽ‰ The Knowsley Family and Community Education (FACE) hub in Kirkby town centre has officially opened today.

βœ… The new adult learning venue is located on St Chad’s Parade and aims to help local residents access learning and training opportunities, improve their skills and gain qualifications.

πŸ—¨οΈ Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council, said β€œIt was great to be at the opening of Knowsley FACE in Kirkby town centre today. We know that the offer at Knowsley FACE is popular with our residents and to have it in a central location in the town centre will make learning and development opportunities more accessible for our residents.”

πŸ—¨οΈ Cllr Sean Donnelly, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, added β€œIt was good to see this new learning venue in Kirkby today and speak to the staff about their offer. As well as supporting residents to develop a hobby or develop new skills, they can also gain a qualification which could help them to pursue a career opportunity as well as building confidence. Please do pop in to speak to the team about what’s on offer and register today!”

One of our Tutors, Rebecca, has started a PhD in Practice Research and has ethical approval to design and deliver a two year art project.

This is called the Art for Wellbeing Project and it will be delivered across all areas in Knowsley and working in collaboration with Liverpool Hope University. Anyone from Liverpool City Region can access this for free.

In September, this project will be starting and she is looking for people who might be interested in being apart of a research project. This cannot only support your mental health and wellbeing long term, it could potenshally make a change in the world on how we can access long term funding on projects, how to best collect data to support this change and most importantly, how to help support our local communities. Which is needed now, more than ever.

We would love for you to have your voice heard as a part of the research if you are interested.

You do not need to know anything about art or be 'good' at it to be a part of it. This is all about experimenting without fear of failure. This is about the process not the end product.

There will be the opportunity to be a part of painting a huge canvase in each area of Knowsley about what your community means to you.

And also, there will be 10 courses where you can experiment with different fine art mediums, learn about different artists, and also different mental health techniques. This project also looks at rewiring the brain. By learning these techniques around mental health and using them in every day life, long after the project has finished.

If you would like to be involved, the minimum would be 12 weeks but you can attend as many courses as you like and withdraw your consent at any time.

There will be two exhibitions at the end of each year which you can be a part of curating.

We already have venues for Kirkby, Prescot and Halewood but will be aiming to also work with Huyton, Whiston and Stockbridge Village.

If you are interested in making change, please email Rebecca on:

This course is FREE!
