The real reason people don’t go back to study isn’t time or money. It’s fear.

“I’m not academic.” “I left school years ago.” “Everyone else will be smarter than me.”

We hear this all the time, right before someone enrols and realises none of it was true.

The HNC doesn’t require a degree or A-levels. No exams, no fixed schedule, 100% online. A Level 3 qualification or relevant work experience is enough to get started.

Rob completed his combined HNC/D with UniCourse over four years, studying at his own pace.

His employer sponsored the course, and he was studying within two weeks of setting it up. Clear study materials with worked examples, tutors on hand by email, phone and video call, and a wide choice of optional units let him pick the ones most relevant to his career.

Rob completed his combined HNC/D with UniCourse over four years. His employer sponsored it, the setup was easy, and he was studying within two weeks.

He told us the study materials were clear with worked examples, tutors were on hand by email, phone and video call, and the optional units let him choose what mattered most for his career.

There is no right time to go back to study. Work is always busy and life is always full.

If you're an engineer, technician or tradesperson with certificates already, RPL could mean you don't have to complete every unit of your HNC or HND. We assess what you've achieved against Pearson's current framework, so you're recognised for what you've already done and the qualification keeps its value.

Let’s talk about money.

Level 3 Foundation Diploma from £225 a month. HNC Engineering from £385 a month, or £3,295 upfront. Put down a 30% deposit and spread the rest interest free. Armed forces and veterans can use Enhanced Learning Credits (ELCAS).

5 things nobody told me before I enrolled in an HNC engineering course.

If you've been thinking about it, this is the honest version:

There's never a quiet patch at work, and life is never fully sorted. The people who enrolled last month were just as busy as you are right now. They started anyway.

The first assignment is the hardest. Not because the content is impossible, but because everything is new: the platform, the format, what's expected of you. After the first unit, something clicks.

There are no exams. HNC and HND courses at UniCourse are 100% assignment-based, so you demonstrate what you know through written work applied to real engineering problems, the same thinking you already do at work every day.
