We love sharing stories like Mark's.
He was in his late 50s, dyslexic, and working full-time, but he decided to go back to education and prove something to himself.
After COVID cut short his previous studies, he found UniCourse and didn't look back. He completed his HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering in August 2025, studying online around his job, with the support of his tutor Mike, every step of the way.
"You're never too old to improve your skills or take on a new challenge."

Got your degree or qualifications? Here's what employers actually care about in 2026.
Qualifications matter, but they're just the starting point. What really gets you hired are the skills that show up once you're in the room.
According to employers, these are the 5 that matter most right now:
Problem-solving: 91% of employers say it's essential when hiring. It's not about knowing all the answers; it's about figuring things out under pressure.
Communication: Writing clearly, explaining ideas simply, and working well with others. Good communication = fewer problems and faster results.
Adaptability: The ability to learn fast and handle change without falling apart. In a fast-moving world, this is gold.
Technical understanding: You don't need to be a tech expert. But understanding the tools relevant to your field is non-negotiable in 2026.
Initiative: Take ownership. Look for what needs doing. Don't wait to be told. Employers remember the people who just get on with it.
If you're job hunting this year, focus on showing these skills, not just listing them on your CV.
Which one do you think is hardest to develop? Drop it in the comments.

Not sure which engineering course is right for you? We've made it simple.
We know choosing a qualification can feel overwhelming, especially when you're working full-time and don't want to waste time or money on the wrong path.
So here's your quick guide to our three routes:
* HNC (Level 4): Have some experience in engineering? Build core skills, stay flexible, and choose your own pace.
* Top-Up HND (Level 5): Already have an HNC? Skip the repetition and go straight to the HND level. Efficient and cost-effective.
* Full HND (Level 4+5 combined): Ready to commit to the full qualification? This is the best value route if you know your end goal.
All 100% online. No attendance. No exams. Start any day.
Drop "COURSE" in the comments or send us a message, and we'll help you figure out which path suits you best.

What's it like to study an HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering?
Mark completed his HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering with us in his late 50s, while working full time.
He returned to study to build confidence in his skills and prove to himself that learning doesn’t stop with age. As a dyslexic learner, going back into education felt daunting at first, but flexible online study and strong tutor support helped him keep moving forward.
Today he says he’s proud of what he’s achieved and no longer shies away from education.
His story is a reminder that it’s never too late to invest in yourself.
We’re incredibly proud of you, Mark

Distance learning isn’t about being motivated every day.
Some days you’ll feel focused. Other days you’ll be tired after work, distracted, or questioning why you started.
Progress doesn’t come from perfect motivation , it comes from showing up anyway, even if all you can manage is 20 minutes.
Small sessions add up. One assignment at a time adds up. Quiet consistency beats bursts of motivation every time.
If you’re studying alongside real life, you’re already doing something hard, and that counts.
Keep going. You’re closer than you think.
