🌟 Member Spotlight

Our Member Spotlight is a chance to celebrate the amazing achievements, journeys, and experiences of our Sundowns members and families 💙

This month’s Member Spotlight is on Grace, with her mum Cheryl sharing Grace’s inspiring swimming journey with us 🏊🥇

Grace hasn’t always loved the water 💦 Due to medical conditions, she didn’t start swimming lessons until she was 6, and after some difficult experiences, she became terrified of going underwater.

Everything changed when we found ‘The Bearded Swim Coach’ 🏊 With weekly lessons, Grace’s confidence and skills began to grow.

Her instructor later suggested joining The Cheshire Penguins — a swim club for people with additional needs linked to the Special Olympics 🐧

Since joining in July, Grace has competed in her very first gala, the North West Regional Swimming Championships, where she won a gold medal! 🥇

Being part of the club has helped Grace build confidence, improve her fitness and technique, and experience being part of a team.

We are so proud of Grace for achieving something she once found so difficult 💙
