Miynd Level 1 Self Development Course
Starts: Tuesday 22nd November 2022 7pm—9pm
at: Miynd, 39 Rodney Street, Liverpool, L1 9EN
Miynd’s Level 1 Course provides an excellent starting point and a solid foundation for a healthy attitude to self development. It’s not about being lectured to and having somebody’s belief sold to you. It’s about joining a few dots and allowing yourself to see the connections in your mind that have been guiding you so far... and how to make changes.
Almost immediately you will notice you are able to develop a very different perspective on life, allowing you to see how you get to where you want to go with much less effort. In each module there are concise explanations and examples, exercises, and opportunities for reflection, which together with your experienced personal coach will guide you through your practice in the following weeks.
"James, as you know I have only just started the journey of Miynd, but already I am grateful to you for having the strength, perseverance, and talent to create this brilliant course. I await my next module with eagerness as always."

Where do you find a good Life coach?
So more people are starting to understand the benefits of learning the philosophy of being successful, and knowing how to deal with challenges in life. Another explanation for this rise in the number of people seeking a coach for support is that with the maturing of the internet, they have become aware of the help that is available to them. Anything that offers a good (and sometimes surprisingly fast) solution to a problem or a worry has got to improve your life because there is a lot going on and time is valuable. It is easy to run a Google search and find local coaches to talk or have an online conversation with. Many will offer a free consultation to give you time to decide if you feel comfortable working with them (research has shown that one of the most important factors of success with a coach is your trust and rapport with them). Making sure that your coach has qualifications is very important – you’ve all been warned about the internet! Look for a coach that is recommended by testimonials or references that you can check, and one that is established in the area is also a good sign. Services like the Life Coach Directory are also good for doing some of the ground work for you and checking the coaches that they advertise, but still use your own judgement on who you make contact with. Be prepared too for your coach to ask you to attain parental consent if you are under 16.
That just leaves the big final question then: does it all work? Well a client has just sent me an email:
“You really gave me clarity and that is why I would just like to thank you for your help, it really means a lot to me. The things you are doing to help me I don't believe nobody has ever helped me with in this way before. The way you help me is that you really ask what I want and you are not asking me to do stuff that wouldn't really help me, or that I don't want to do, which no one has ever done before and it just makes me really happy deep down that you have guided me more and more in the right direction. For every session and for every exercise that you have suggested that I should do have just made me happier and more clear of what my goals are, and deep down I appreciate that a lot! Thank you.”

I'm already fascinated to see what the future brings us. Due to the exponential rise in mental health issues, control issues (OCD, Self-Harm, etc), and life/work related stress, I predict an even greater surge in people looking for answers. In response, more people will look to become coaches and therapists too, and that's all good as long as the quality stays high and is provided by people who have faced the abyss and actually come out the other side...
I started in Hypnotherapy before it became popular and I worked hard to become an advanced therapist. In time it became fashionable but when the wave passed it filtered out the serious amongst us and it's popularity as a career choice was a positive. I realised over time that my approach to therapy was commonly grounded in a form of Psychological Coaching (as a lot of my past experience had been in leadership and personal coaching/support). Now as Life Coaching becomes increasingly desirable we shall again be weighed and measured in the aftermath of popularity.
This cycle rolls on, but where does the next step truly lie? What is the next level in finding and maintaining true happiness? Why are so many people still suffering in a western world where we have so much of everything and much more? There is a clue in the question.
I've travelled much and worked with people from very diverse backgrounds, relationships, finances, and cultures. I've found that people with a lot of possessions/finances/fame/opportunity are just as capable of being as unhappy as those without. Most people feel they are trying to get to a point of having more but are rarely actually trying (I describe it as the difference between 'wanting' and 'liking'). So they are then stuck in a self-imposed limbo not happy with what they have, but not really committed to changing their situation. Too many times the realisations come when it is perceived to be too late.
If we consider then that if the answer is not in seeking more material gain or status, yet nor is it accepting the current status quo, then what is it?
It is to be found in the truest Freedom of all; that of the mind. And ironically once you find freedom and happiness within, the rest comes to you. Do not get caught in the trap of thinking you will be free when you get that ideal love/million/TV show/escape - you will get what you seek when you find freedom within your mind first.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.”

It's common to reach a point at work or in business when we ask ourselves: "Am I experiencing unhealthy stress or a healthy challenge?". The simplest answer is to be honest with yourself and in touch with how you feel (covered in another blog). But to dive in deeper I have attempted to basically describe what we know about work related stress.
What exactly is 'Work Related Stress'? It's common to reach a point at work or in business when we ask ourselves: "Am I experiencing unhealthy stress or a healthy challenge?".

When I describe my way of coaching I talk about three areas; 1) Therapy (dealing with whatever is holding you back), 2) Classic Coaching (Goals and structure), and 3) Psychology (learning how to think healthily). The last one may take some explaining, but as a taster...
How to Think?! How can you think healthier?!

Stop. And achieve so much more...
I'll say that again. It can take a while for it to sink in in the 21st Century, but it is true. Learning the discipline of coming to a complete stop, relaxing, and allowing your body and mind to 'catch up' with life delivers truly life changing effects. A few simple moves that focus on posture, stretching, and breathing followed by a deep meditation for the mind will change your life on many levels.
The fact is that in the western world in the 21st century people do not stop. We are driven to become more efficient, more effective, deal with more pressure, and we perceive this comes through longer working hours, having a bigger 'to do lists', pushing ourselves harder, and so on, until we break. And we wonder why.
Welcome to MIYND FIT Physical Meditation.. Starting in Liverpool at Rodney Street, 7pm Tuesday evenings. Come to a stop and achieve so much more.

Mrs B, Chester
"I just wanted to say a huge thank you for having such an immense impact on my life this year. You are phenomenally good at what you do James - the distance I have come since starting with you is amazing. We have had some life changing sessions - the last one had a profound impact on me - I was so inspired! It's so strange to think that one person can speak with such clarity - thanks so so much James."
Mrs S, North Wales
Hi James, I just thought I would let you know that I have secured my first teaching job starting in September. I've been appointed at the School where I am currently training so I'm absolutely delighted. I can't actually believe I've come this far particularly with the anxieties that I'd had when I first came to you. Even more bizarre is that I'm regarded as the calm one in the group now! I'm still using all of the methods and meditations that you provided which have been invaluable. Thank you.
Mrs R, Shropshire
"James totally understood my perspective on events from the past and has helped me view these in a different light so that I can totally move on in my life."
Ms T, Chester
