Over the last two weeks, Year 4 have been exploring the vibrant and colourful world of Tinga Tinga art. The children have been developing their skills by replicating traditional patterns and carefully following a step-by-step guide to draw their very own lizards. They have worked incredibly hard to focus on detail, creating intricate patterns and using bold, eye-catching colours to bring their artwork to life. We are proud of the creativity, concentration and attention to detail shown by our young artists!

Hatton Hills own magical, musical maestro, Miss Butcher is back with the fabulous and fun Wednesday singing assemblies. There will be concerts and updates so keep your eyes open. This week delighted the staff, with a little Flashdance rendition. Who doesn’t love a bit of Flashdance. Let’s get it practiced and then we can share it with you, our parents, and get you singing, dancing and reminiscing. Fun times.

This term, Year 6 are studying The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis, and this week children began their writing on the story itself, having learned about the context of the troubles in Afghanistan.
The story is powerful and thought-provoking, set under Taliban rule. Parvana, is an eleven-year-old who bravely takes on responsibility for her family in extraordinary circumstances.
Our children will explore themes including courage, resilience, friendship, family and equality. The novel provides opportunities for thoughtful discussion about different cultures, children’s rights and the challenges faced by people living through conflict.

We hope children and families have had a wonderful holiday in the glorious sunshine. The time seems to have flown, but there are new adventures ahead and we are delighted to see our existing school community return to school and to warmly welcome new families. It is always a pleasure to watch our youngest children settle into school life. already Nursery and Reception children are happy within their play-based learning as they start their learning journey. Indeed, it is amazing how quickly children settle to their jobs and, throughout the school, we have already been impressed by the work in books and general attitude to learning. Your children are a credit to you.

At Hatton Hill, hard work and a good attitude is rewarded through Class Charts points. At the end of term a shop is opened online giving children the opportunity to spend their points on all sorts of things, such as, rubbers, stickers, fidget toys, pencils, hot dogs, extra break, ‘jump the dinner queue’ cards and raffle tickets. Congratulations to Jackson who was the lucky pupil who won a bike in our attendance raffle which has been kindly sponsored by Evans Cycles. All the children who had achieved excellent attendance over the year, or improved attendance over a period of time, were entered into the raffle. You have to be in to win!
