Congratulations to siblings Livia and James, who have both been selected for the NI Sailing Team!
Livia has been selected for the Topper Squad, while James has secured his place on the ILCA 4 Squad.
It’s James’ second year on the NI Sailing Team, but this year brings a new challenge as he moves into the ILCA 4 fleet.
A fantastic achievement for both siblings, recognising their hard work, commitment and dedication to sailing. We are incredibly proud of them both and wish them every success for the season ahead!

Year 14 pupil Matthew competed in the World Stone Skimming Championships which were held on Easdale Island in Scotland in early September.

Matthew placed an incredible 6th place in the World and was the top skimmer from Ireland, automatically qualifying him for entry to the 2027 World Championships. A fantastic achievement!

Year 12 and 13 pupils recently took part in a workshop on spectroscopy and astrophysics, led by representatives from Queen’s University Belfast.

The session gave pupils the opportunity to explore how scientists use light to investigate stars, galaxies and the wider universe, while gaining an insight into the study of astrophysics at university level.

A brilliant opportunity to bring classroom science to life and hear directly from experts in the field.

This week, we have been celebrating European Day of Languages with a variety of events.
Past pupils Hannah and Megan returned to school to take assemblies and share their experiences of studying languages at university and abroad.

On Monday, our Year 14 Language Ambassadors prepared an outdoor Food Fest, where Year 8 pupils sampled foods from France, Germany and Spain, and on Tuesday some of our own pupils took over the classroom and gave taster sessions on a variety of languages, from Hindi, to Urdu, Polish to Portuguese.

Congratulations to Sofia, who has been selected for the Northern Ireland Junior National Team to compete in the Junior Home Nation Indoor Championship.

Sofia will represent Northern Ireland during the National Indoor Championship weekend in December.

Ulster Rugby Representatives

Congratulations to pupils Joe and Joel, who were pictured at the Ulster Rugby shirt presentation on Friday evening.

The boys were presented with their Ulster shirts by Bryn ward, current Ulster player and Ireland international, ahead of the Ulster v Edinburgh game at Affidea Stadium.

Joe represented Ulster U18s during the Summer Interprovincial Series, while Joel represented Ulster U19s.

A fantastic achievement for both boys and a proud moment for Friends’. Well done, Joe and Joel! 👏
