This week we had the most amazing treat as the Pony Pals animals came to visit us at Hatties. We had 4 chickens, 2 goats, 2 sheep, 1 donkey and 1 pony to stroke, groom and learn all about. Each child got to spend time with all the animals and at the end we joined to listen to a story written by and read by our friend Caroline, who owns Pony Pals.
Having hands on experiences like this for the children is invaluable learning and creates memories that will last for such a long time. We can not wait to welcome The Pony Pals Family back to Hatties again soon

In celebration of David Attenborough’s 100th birthday we concentrated on everything he stands for! We spoke about lots of different animals and their habitats, how we can be kind to the planet and take care in day to day life. We watched some videos and looked at picture of David Attenborough throughout his career and got to see him interact with lots of different animals. Also taking part in lots of activities about nature, using the resources around us and understanding the importance of recycling! We have been so inspired this week we are aiming to continue on and making our nature areas more wildlife friendly by making hedgehog highways, pond life and more pollinators!!

Today was such a special, special day. To celebrate Miss Stones' special birthday at the weekend and as a surprise treat for all the children and staff, we had a visit from a "real, live unicorn" today! It was such a wonderful surprise and watching the children's faces (and the staff!) when they spotted a unicorn in the garden was truly magical. The children got to take turns grooming and petting him and had individual photos taken too. One Big Hattie turned to me and said "you have made all my dreams come true"! What a moment! What a truly magical day!
