Bruce Fine Papers This means that no two batches of wallpaper are the same, providing you with a totally unique product.

Bruce Fine Papers is a small Lincoln based family-run business established in 1994, and is a leading manufacturer of traditional quality-made block-printed wallpapers. We specialise in block printed wallpaper, which is a complex process, unlike many production concepts, has not undergone advanced technological changes, so is completed solely by hand and monitored at every stage. Every piece of work that we do is made to order, and can be entirely custom coloured.

It’s Sheraton for us! We love that neoclassical harmony 🖤 But what are you picking? 🤔

In the Georgian era wallpaper was a luxury item reserved as a show of wealth and status and was restricted to the upper classes as a result of the wallpaper tax. It was laboriously hand printed using wooden blocks, but inventors were changing the market with the invention of the continuous roll and cylinder printing, laying the foundations for mass production.

Today all these wallpapers are still traditionally hand block printed in Lincolnshire, using a heritage craft which survived the Industrial Revolution and can be found at www.brucefinepapers.com

Do you have any old pieces of wallpaper which you’ve found in your home?

This is the backstory behind our wallpaper Tulips. A lot of love goes into printing this pattern, partly because it requires 10 individual prints to create its painterly design, but also because it’s a wallpaper which we’ve personally sourced, redrawn and saved from ending up in the landfill and put it back on the wall where it belongs.

It’s Santry Shield for us! We can’t resist that Gothic Revival drama 🖤 But what are you picking? 🤔

The Victorian era was the ‘Golden Age’ of wallpaper, witnessing more designs and variety of patterns than ever before. The Industrial Revolution created mass production bringing wallpaper to the masses but it also created a rebel movement who valued traditional crafts and design.

Today all these wallpapers are still traditionally hand crafted in Lincolnshire, using a heritage craft which survived the Industrial Revolution and can be found at www.brucefinepapers.com

Collaborating with Laura and John on a bespoke range of custom coloured wallpaper designs which reflect the heart and soul of the Notswolds has been one of the highlights of our year here at Bruce Fine Papers, connecting with people passionate about craft, heritage and making in this little-known creative hub hidden in Central England.

We’ve lost a Bruce! (well, almost)

It’s the first day back in the workshop this week after we all took a break for Ellie and Katie’s wedding! So bear with us whilst we catch up and in the meantime here are a few photos of the incredible day and the Bruce’s looking a lot smarter than when we are making wallpaper.

We love that Georgian wallpaper is still in style.

We’ve adored printing this latest order of Georgian Knot in ‘Cherry Blossom’. As one of our oldest designs it’s a pleasure to still be printing this one decades after Allan restored it from the scraps found in an old Norfolk Inn.

Found in the Simon Playle Ltd. showroom, Georgian Knot is available in 6 standard colourways and can be printed in any custom colourway upon request.

We have to admit we are slightly obsessed with mid century design.

Who would like to see more mid century interiors appearing in our roomsets?

Also, very exciting news, there’s a brand new wallpaper making an appearance in this post… Elephants, now available for sampling and arriving to the Bruce Fine Papers website this October.
