As we say goodbye to the last ever year group of Hammond Junior School, we do so with immense pride and love.

As we end the school year, we say goodbye to some much-loved members of our Hammond Team

Mrs Eldridge – after 16 years at Hammond, including 5 as Assistant Head, she begins a new journey in specialist SEN teaching.
Mrs Freeman – celebrating 10 years, she’s led the way in writing, launching a new curriculum that’s brought joy back to the page!
Mrs Ryan – joined us this year supporting Y3 with care and calm, now heading back to secondary teaching at Tomlinscote.
Hayley Auton – our wonderful lunchtime supervisor is stepping back to focus on her thriving hairdressing business.

Thank you all for your dedication, heart, and hard work. You’ll be missed!

🎓 A Final Farewell to Our Last Hammond Leavers 💙

This week, we said goodbye to our amazing Year 6s — the final cohort of Hammond Junior School as we prepare for our exciting merger.

They’ve made us proud every step of the way — showing kindness, leadership, and true Hammond spirit. From assemblies to adventures, laughter to learning, they’ve left a lasting legacy.

Though the school is changing, the memories and friendships they’ve made will last forever. Good luck, Year 6 — we can’t wait to see what you do next!

On Monday 30th June, a group of pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 joined forces to compete in the Gordon's Maths Challenge. The event featured four exciting rounds: Team Round, Logic Round, Head-to-Head, and Relay Round. A huge well done to both teams, Hammond 1 and Hammond 2, for their fantastic teamwork, enthusiasm, and for representing our school with pride. We’re especially proud to share that Hammond 2 achieved an impressive second place in the competition — a brilliant result for all involved!

Our choir did a fantastic job representing Hammond at this week’s Primary Festival of Song at Collingwood College. This collaborative event brought together children from across 5 local schools who had each learned parts of the songs in advance, culminating in a performance as one impressive super choir! The children had a wonderful day and brought smiles to the faces of everyone who attended. Well done to them — we look forward to representing the school at this event again next year!

Sporting Events at Hammond

On the 9th June our athletics team took part in the district athletics quad kids match at Aldershot Athletics stadium. All children showed great sporting attitudes and ran, jumped, and threw fantastically. Well done!

On the 25th June, Paralympic rower Georgia Carmicheal, came to school to see the children. She gave a fantastic motivational assembly followed by the children having a chance to take part in a fitness circuit alongside her and ask her questions. Well done to everyone for taking part and for the fantastic fundraising you did for this event. It was a great day!

In the last sporting event of the year Hammond played in a rounders match, winning by 5 rounders! Excellent work year 6 team, we are so proud of you all!

'Great Hammond Sewing Stint'
On Friday 27th June, Year 3 hosted the 'Great Hammond Sewing Stint' in which parents were invited in to assist our lovely Year 3s in creating their textile art. The children took inspiration from the landscapes of our focus countries: France, Italy and Greece and used needle and thread to embellish their painted background. The results were fantastic!
Also, we wanted to say a tremendous THANK YOU to all the Year 3 parents and grandparents who helped making the afternoon such a success! We could not have done it without all of your support.

🎟️ Tokens for stalls: 10 for £5 — pre-order or buy on the day. Most stalls take tokens, some accept cash/card.

🛍️ Raffle tickets on sale until 2:45pm (cash or bank transfer only). Draw at 3pm!

🎪 Featuring: Bubble Bakery & bungee trampolines (cash/card accepted)

🙏 Helpers needed between picnic & Garden Party set-up — any time you can spare is appreciated!
