Quality isn’t something we check at the end of the process, it’s built into every stage of what we do. From mix design and material selection through to batching, testing, delivery and customer service, we focus on getting the details right at every step. Our quality control procedures, technical standards and experienced team help ensure every load is consistent, reliable and meets the required specification. The result is concrete that meets the requirements of the job and performs consistently on site.

With river levels significantly lower than usual, this presented a valuable opportunity to support some essential repair works on the River Ure near West Tanfield and address several damaged sections across a weir. Working alongside a much valued client, our volumetric option was best suited for this project, allowing the team to produce the exact quantity required on site whilst delivering a high-quality durable mix, designed to withstand the harsh demands of the river environment.

With fantastic views up Wensleydale, a local housing development for a long-standing client is beginning to take shape. Our Catterick concrete plant recently supplied an RC28/35 pump mix for the raft foundation, which was efficiently pumped directly into place to create a strong, durable base designed to deliver long-term performance for this high-quality development. We’re delighted to be involved in this project and look forward to seeing the development progress over the coming months.

Delivered using one of our volumetric mixers, our Concrete Division recently supplied concrete for the installation of a wheel wash facility. As the exact volume required couldn't be accurately calculated in advance, a volumetric mixer offered the ideal solution and enabled us to produce the precise amount of concrete required on site. The concrete produced by our volumetric mixers offers the same dependable performance and consistent quality as our traditional ready-mixed concrete delivered by drum mixers, while providing the added benefits of flexibility, reduced waste, and cost-effectiveness.

Over the past few weeks, our Concrete Division has successfully completed a series of concrete pours at a local farm, all supplied from our Teesside Concrete Plant. The works have extended the existing yard area, with several pours requiring a rapid-setting, early-strength concrete incorporating steel replacement fibres. This specific mix enabled key areas of the yard to be brought into use ahead of the upcoming harvest.

We are delighted to announce that, given the outstanding health and safety performance demonstrated in our Groundworks division this second quarter, we have chosen to recognise two recipients for the Q2 Health & Safety Site Managers Award: Colin Ford at The Cornfields scheme in Yarm and Dan Postgate on the Sandpiper Grange scheme in Whitby.

Colin has continued to lead his team effectively on a key scheme, maintaining high standards of quality and safety throughout. His achievements include delivering key programme milestones, successfully managing the recent compound decamp and new site set-up, and securing consistently strong safety scores, including two full marks in 2026.

Dan has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving site safety, achieving a notable increase in safety performance and earning full marks through the introduction of new initiatives. He has successfully managed a large and complex scheme while delivering several key milestones during the first 12 months of the project.

Both Colin and Dan are instrumental to the operational and commercial success of their schemes and are highly valued by their clients’ production teams. Congratulations to both on this well-deserved recognition.
