Colour by Nutrients has a new front cover!

A colouring book for children or adults, full of nutritious food, 'Colour By Nutrients' is at once a resource for artistic indulgence and an educational tool. Divided into chapters of different vitamins and minerals, the book illustrates which foods contain significant amounts of each. The authors are happy for teachers and parents to photocopy the colouring pages for use in the classroom. All in all a delightful way to learn about nutrition.

The author of rhyming story book What’s Good For The Goose Is Not Good For The Panda has turned her hand to non-fiction this time, for older readers: Wild Goose Chase – another unique title from collage artist Lavender Laine.

Wild Goose Chase is a collage of excerpts from the brilliant Sacred Cows and Golden Geese by Ray Greek MD and Jean Swingle Greek DVM. Laine has torn pertinent sentences and paragraphs from their meticulously researched and referenced book and collaged them onto found images from many different books and magazines. The result is a short book full of historical and scientific facts, made easier to remember by the images to which they are pasted; a book which demonstrates the futility of animal experiments and explains the corrupt, unscientific reasons for its continuation in spite of superior human-based research alternatives.

Every student should know these facts. And every reader who wants more detailed information can find it with ease by referring to the relevant pages in Sacred Cows and Golden Geese indicated on the torn-out excerpts.

What’s Good for the Goose is Not Good for the Panda

Patty Panda is hungry but doesn’t know what to eat. All the people she meets are happy to share their food but Patty has something very important to learn before she can indulge. This delightful rhyming story, written and illustrated completely in collage by Lavender Laine, teaches children that we are all different and what’s good for one is not necessarily good for someone else.

It might also inspire children to make art out of old odds and ends such as left over yarn and buttons, paper cut from old magazines, fabric off-cuts, and food packaging etc, as Laine has done here, encouraging recycling and resourcefulness.

Laine has dedicated the book, with thanks, to the work of Safer Medicines, an independent patient safety organisation of scientists and doctors, which aims to change the way our medicines are tested to a system focused firmly on human biology.

Wibbolywub is back in travel size! This story has been so popular that it has now been published in a more portable size which makes it even cuter. For those who haven’t seen the first edition, this charming story by Edward Benn, colourfully illustrated by Juliet Mahoney, is about an alien visitor to Earth who makes friends with ten different earthlings. The story introduces young children to numbers as it shows the new friends playing games involving counting and measuring. Children may also learn, along with Wibbolywub, about different Earthlings and their natural diets as herbivores, carnivores or omnivores. Just charming.
