5 Currant Buns!

Our maths songs last week was 5 currant buns. The children enjoyed singing this song so much- we decided to make our own currant buns.

Firstly we washed our hands before we started baking.

We spoke about what ingredients we would need to make some currant buns.
We needed cooked flour, yeast, sugar, butter and raisins. Each child helped to measure and stir the ingredients together to make the currant buns. Then they went in the oven to be cooked.

Once they had cooked and cooled down, the children put the icing and cherry to complete the currant buns- before we eat them of course we all sang 5 Currant Buns together!

TRACTOR VISIT🚜

The children have shown such an interest towards tractors and farms this term, so we organised for a tractor to come and visit us!

They were so excited, we spoke about what a tractor does, and the importance of farmers. 🧑‍🌾
We used descriptive words like bigger and smaller when comparing the wheel sizes. The children also found shapes in the wheels like circles and squares!

The children’s favourite part was getting in the tractor and exploring! 🚜

Autumn🍂🍁
We went for an Autumn walk! As the weather has begun to get cold, we noticed a difference with the colours are leaves are in the garden! So we set off to see the changes around the village, where we found autumnal leaves and conkers. We were lucky to find some red and yellow leaves. We then used these items to explore textures with paint!

We did some rolling the conkers in paint onto our page as well as printing with leaves, looking at the textures each leave left behind.🍂

It has been quite rainy recently, but we don’t let that stop our play!

Today, we discovered the joys of sliding down our hill with a little help from Tarpaulin, rainwater and soap! There were lots of giggles and lots of fun! 🥰

Today we have been Exploring and Creating! 🌿

We have been super busy exploring our forest area and getting creative with natural resources! 🍂

As part of our all about me learning, we talked about our faces and discussed what we have on our faces and what we use each part for. The children then placed clay on the tree and used natural materials to create their very own faces.

Afterwards, we got our hands messy with clay and water, using them to make handprints. The children loved exploring the texture of the clay and seeing the marks their hands could make.

We then ended it off with a trip to the park, where the children practiced their turn taking and enhancing their gross motor skills.🛝

We have been super busy enjoying our P.E. sessions, getting creative with painting, getting wet and muddy during our outdoor adventures, and exploring our exciting new room set-up! 🎨

It has been wonderful to see all the children settling back in, having fun, and enjoying lots of new experiences.💛
