Last week, our Year 5/6 pupils had a fantastic visit to the Trust Sustainability Centre! ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒณ

The children were fully immersed in a rainforest survival story, taking on the role of a family who had to survive in the rainforest. They worked together in a survival challenge, deciding which items to keep, trade or discard, carefully considering what would be most important for survival.

The adventure continued as the children designed and built their own shelters, enjoying their lunch next to their creations. In the afternoon, everyone had the opportunity to light a fire and celebrate their success with some delicious popcorn!

We were incredibly proud of how the children embraced every challenge and supported one another throughout the day.

We are looking forward to returning this week to continue our rainforest survival journey! ๐ŸŒŽ

Today, 9 of our Year 5 and 6 pupils represented Lewannick School at a fantastic netball event at Launceston College.

The morning was spent developing and practising a range of netball skills before putting them into action during the afternoon tournament. Our team performed brilliantly, winning 2 games and drawing 2 games, which is a fantastic achievement!

We are incredibly proud of how the children represented our school, showing great teamwork, determination and, as always, excellent sportsmanship throughout the day.

Last Friday, our Leaders had a fantastic day at Launceston College for their Adventure Day! They took part in a range of exciting activities, including orienteering, wall climbing, team building, dodgeball, bushcraft and archery.

The children challenged themselves, worked brilliantly together and demonstrated excellent resilience throughout the day. We were especially proud to hear comments about their politeness and positive attitude from the staff leading the activities.

A wonderful day was had by all, and as always, they made us incredibly proud!

๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒŽ Last week, Adventurers visited the Sustainability Centre, where they learned about the incredible story of the children who survived in the Amazon rainforest for 40 days. Inspired by their resilience and resourcefulness, the children took part in a series of survival challenges.

Working together, they showed great teamwork and problem-solving skills as they attempted to cross a "river" using only limited resources, just as the children in the Amazon had to do. They then created tripods to support three different types of water filtration materials: leaves, sand and charcoal. This proved to be a tricky challenge, but one that everyone persevered with brilliantly!

To finish the day, the children cooked their own chilli couscous, which was a big hit and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Well done, Adventurers! ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒฑ

๐ŸŒŠWhat an amazing day for our Leaders in Bude!

The morning began with an incredible bodyboarding session with Big Blue Surf School. We would like to say a huge thank you to Big Blue Surf School for stepping in at such short notice and providing such an amazing experience for our children. They absolutely loved it, with smiles all around as they jumped onto their bodyboards and tackled the waves.

This was followed by a paddleboarding session on Bude Canal, where the children amazed passers-by with their skill.

Throughout the day, the children demonstrated fantastic confidence, resilience and teamwork, supporting and encouraging one another every step of the way. Staff commented on how comfortable and capable the children are in the water, and we are incredibly proud as a school of the opportunities we provide and the positive impact these experiences have on helping our children grow. It is wonderful to see how these experiences have helped develop them into Year 5 and 6 pupils who are willing to challenge themselves and get fully involved.

A huge thank you also goes to the Clore Duffield Foundation for funding this fantastic trip.

Finally, it was lovely to spend the day alongside our friends from Werrington Community Primary School.๐ŸŒŠ

We are so proud of our new Reception children and the fantastic start they have made to school life at Lewannick.

Over the past week, our Explorers have settled brilliantly into their new routines, showing confidence, kindness and enthusiasm every day. They have loved discovering their new learning areas, building, creating, reading, chatting and learning through play together.

They have embraced new experiences, made new friends and become valued members of our school community. Their smiles, curiosity and caring attitudes have made Explorer Class such a wonderful place to be.

Well done, Explorers! We are so proud of each and every one of you and cannot wait to see all the adventures and learning the year ahead will bring.

Yesterday, our Year 3 and 4 children enjoyed an exciting trip to Roadford Lake for a fantastic water sports day!

The children had the opportunity to try both kayaking and sailing, which were great fun and provided a brilliant chance to experience something a little different. Sailing proved to be quite a challenge at times, requiring excellent communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills to navigate successfully.

All of the adults were incredibly impressed by the children's positive attitude, exemplary behaviour and resilience throughout the day. They embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and determination and, as always, represented the school wonderfully.

A huge thank you to all of the parents who attended and supported the trip. Your help was greatly appreciated and helped make the day such a success.
