🏛️ An Unforgettable Experience for the Sizewell C Youth Council 🏛️

Members of the Sizewell C Youth Council — a group of Alde Valley Academy — enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime visit to 10 Downing Street this term after meeting Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Formed a year ago, the Youth Council gives young people a voice in the Sizewell C project. Over the past 12 months, they’ve met regularly with the leadership team, sharing thoughtful views on sustainability, transport, and the local community. During a meeting in Ipswich, where the Prime Minister announced £14.2 billion of funding for Sizewell C, the students’ questions impressed him so much that he invited them to visit Downing Street in person.

The group later travelled to London, stepping through the famous black door and exploring the historic rooms where national decisions are made — a truly memorable experience and a standout moment in their work with Sizewell C so far. 👏

What a fantastic World Book Day celebration we had at school! 📚✨

It was brilliant to see so many students and staff embracing the day by dressing up as their favourite book characters. The creativity, effort and enthusiasm on display were incredible, and it really brought the joy of reading to life across the school.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the day so special, and a particular thanks to Mrs Smith for organising such a wonderful event. Moments like these remind us just how powerful books and stories can be in bringing a school community together.

Tomorrow is World Book Day at AVA, and we’re so excited to see all the amazing book character costumes! Come dressed as your favourite character and help fill the school with storybook magic. 🧙‍♂️🦸‍♀️🐉

Please remember: this is not a non-uniform day. If children are not dressing up as a book character, they should attend in normal school uniform.

We can’t wait to see everyone’s creativity! 🎉📖

🏉 Primary School Touch Rugby Competition 🏉

Despite the foggy conditions, we had a fantastic afternoon of touch rugby filled with great teamwork and sportsmanship.

Thank you to Aldeburgh, Kelsale, Snape and Leiston for bringing such enthusiastic teams who represented their schools brilliantly.

A special well done to our Sports Leaders for officiating with confidence and professionalism — an excellent job all round.

We look forward to the next event! 👏

We’re excited to announce a Jamaica-themed pop-up catering event taking place in the school canteen at lunchtime on Wednesday 4th March! 🌴🍗🌶️

Students can look forward to a delicious menu inspired by the vibrant flavours of Jamaica, with a range of tasty dishes to try. It’s a fantastic opportunity to experience something new, celebrate global cuisine and enjoy a special lunchtime treat with friends.
