As we come to the end of another wonderful year at West Leigh Infant School, it is time to say goodbye to our fantastic Year 2 children as they move on to junior school.
We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of you. Throughout your time with us, you have shown creativity, resilience and independence, embracing every challenge with enthusiasm and determination. You have truly aimed high, worked hard and had fun along the way.
As you begin this exciting new chapter, we wish you the very best of luck at West Leigh Junior school and with all the new adventures that await you. While we are going to miss you greatly, we know that you will continue to shine brightly and make us proud.
Thank you for being such a special part of our West Leigh Infants family. We will treasure the memories we have made together and look forward to hearing about all your future successes.

๐’๐œ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ ๐‚๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐œ๐ข๐ฅ ๐๐ž๐ฐ๐ฌ
Back in May, the School Council visited St Vincentโ€™s in Southend. The children had a tour and helped to make up food packs for those less fortunate than themselves. They were struck by how difficult it was to make up complete packs as the shelves of donated food were getting low. During our visit, they were shown a Hungry Cupboard that had been designed and printed by clients of St Vincentโ€™s. The Hungry Cupboard is an initiative for schools and businesses to collect food donations on a more regular basis to help those in need. The School Council were very keen to establish a Hungry Cupboard at West Leigh Infants and we are very excited to announce that our very own Hungry Cupboard has arrived! From September, the Hungry Cupboard will travel round the different classrooms throughout the year. When it is your childโ€™s classโ€™s turn, we will invite them to bring in one item of food for the cupboard. This is entirely voluntary, and any contributions will be greatly appreciated. These donations will be collected by the staff of St Vincentโ€™s on a regular basis to help them continue the fantastic work that they do ๐Ÿ’›

Last Wednesday, the children had a fabulous afternoon at Belfairs Academy, taking part in their โ€˜Mini Olympicsโ€™ and earning points for their coloured team. Activities were led by the Belfairs Year 9 students and included long jump into a sandpit, relay races, tennis ball throw, target games, tennis ball egg and spoon. We were super proud of all of the children who took part with big smiles.

This afternoon, Year 2 took part in their Inter-Class Swimming Gala, enjoying a range of exciting races including balloon, dressing-up, raft and piggy-back events.
Well done to Clams Class for winning the gala and congratulations to Rory who received the 2026 Most Improved Swimmer Award.

A huge congratulations to our Year 2 Borough Sports Team, who finished 1st place at the Southend City Sports yesterday!
After a fantastic afternoon of running, skipping, bouncing on hoppers and egg-and-spoon races, our children showed incredible determination, teamwork, resillience and sportsmanship throughout. What an amazing achievement!
