I’ve noticed quite a few new followers on here recently — so I just wanted to say hello, and thank you for following my page.

I thought it might be helpful to share a bit more about what I do, my approach, and how I support families.

I’m a qualified SENCo and SEND/EHCP consultant, and I work with children and families from early years right through to secondary. My Master’s focused on educational leadership, with a strong emphasis on children’s rights and supporting families holistically.

At the heart of my work is a really simple principle: looking at what a child needs, not just what a system is set up to offer.

Most of my work is supporting families who are trying to make sense of the SEND system — whether that’s at the very beginning, or when things have become more complex.

That might look like:

– early concerns and “something doesn’t feel right”
– applying for an EHC needs assessment
– reviewing or challenging a draft EHCP
– supporting through appeals and EOTAS arrangements

My aim is to bring clarity and honesty. There’s so much information out there, and it can feel overwhelming — my role is to help you understand what actually matters, what the guidance says, and what suitable options are available.

From there, it’s about making informed decisions that feel right for your child and your family.

I offer a range of support depending on what’s needed, including:

• one-off support calls
• EHCP draft reviews
• parental submissions for EHC needs assessments
• tribunal support (including working documents)
• case management and EOTAS coordination

You can find more detail on each of these on my website.
If you’re not sure what support you might need, you’re always welcome to get in touch. Services do become booked quite quickly, so if you are in need of support, it’s best to book early.

Case Management

Case management is often used when SEND processes stop being linear and families find themselves managing multiple strands at once.

This support provides continuity — offering a consistent point of contact to help parents prioritise actions, respond to correspondence, review documents, and keep sight of the bigger picture as situations evolve.

Case management is flexible and can include regular check-ins, document review, support with applications, or coordination across services. The focus is on reducing pressure, creating structure, and helping families feel more able to navigate the system over time.

This service is particularly helpful where needs are changing, decisions are ongoing, or parents feel they are constantly reacting rather than being able to plan ahead.

EHCP Contents & Placement Appeal (Sections B, F and I)

Appealing the contents or placement named in an EHCP is usually the result of ongoing difficulty, where a plan does not accurately reflect a child’s needs or secure appropriate provision.

This service supports parents to prepare a clear and grounded appeal, setting out the key issues in dispute, the available evidence, and the relevant legal framework. The focus is on accuracy and clarity — ensuring that a child’s needs, provision, and placement are properly articulated at the point of appeal.

Support includes preparation of the grounds of appeal and guidance around evidence, helping parents understand the process and what to expect as the appeal progresses.

The aim is to support families to engage with the tribunal process in a more informed, structured, and confident way.

Tribunal is not something families plan for — it’s usually something they arrive at after a long period of difficulty.

My tribunal-related work focuses on helping parents understand the process, clarify the issues in dispute, and prepare documents that accurately reflect a child’s needs and the available evidence.

The aim is to reduce confusion, narrow issues where possible, and help families feel more grounded in what can otherwise be an overwhelming process. A particular area of my work focuses on engaging effectively in the working document stage of appeals, supporting timely agreement where possible and reducing the need for families to wait months for a hearing.

If you are currently navigating the tribunal process and feel you may need support, you are welcome to get in touch.

EOTAS arrangements require ongoing coordination, not just initial agreement. Too often, SENCO oversight is limited or absent, and parents can quickly feel overwhelmed when provision needs managing across multiple professionals.

Our EOTAS management and coordination service supports this gap. Led by a qualified SENCO, with substantial experience across all ages and stages of education, the focus is on ensuring provision remains appropriate, accessible, and aligned with a child’s EHCP as circumstances change.

This work involves liaison between families, providers, and Local Authorities, bringing professionals together to support a joined-up approach. The aim is to ensure provision is in place at the level a child needs, to identify gaps or barriers early, and to support timely problem-solving before difficulties escalate.

If you require EOTAS coordination and support, this service can be booked via our website. Where Local Authority commissioning is required, we are happy to work alongside caseworkers to co-create a suitable package of support.

Requesting an EHC needs assessment is often the first formal step parents take, and it can feel both significant and confusing.

Our parental submission service supports parents by preparing an application that clearly sets out a child’s needs, the evidence that already exists, and why assessment is necessary at this stage. The focus is on presenting information in a way that reflects both a family’s lived experience and the legal framework the Local Authority is working within.

The aim is to ensure the right information is brought together clearly and coherently, helping families enter the assessment process with greater clarity and confidence.

If you are at this stage in your child’s journey and feel you need support, you are welcome to email or book our EHC needs assessment parental submission service via the website.

The SEND system can be overwhelming and confusing. When things start to feel unclear, having space to talk them through can make a real difference.

Support calls are for parents who want clarity — about process, next steps, or whether something they’ve been told is right. They offer time to pause, ask questions, and make sense of what’s happening without pressure.

Support calls are used to talk through the SEND process, understand options, and help parents decide what to do next with greater confidence.

Support calls continue to be a popular service and can be booked via our website.

Much of my work sits around supporting families to navigate SEND and EHCP processes at different stages.

That might be early concerns, applying for an EHC needs assessment, reviewing a draft plan, or supporting families when things become more complex — including appeals or EOTAS arrangements.

The common thread across all of this work is clarity: helping parents understand what matters, what the guidance says, and how decisions affect their child in practice.

I currently offer a range of SEND and EHCP support services, including:

• Support calls for parents needing clarity or reassurance
• EHCP draft checking
• Parental submissions for EHC needs assessments
• Tribunal support (appeals and working documents)
• Case management and EOTAS coordination

Details of each service are available via the website. If you’re unsure what type of support might be right for your situation, you’re also welcome to get in touch. Link to book below and in our bio.

Draft EHCP checks remain one of our most popular services — and the one I recommend most often.

A thorough check allows for clear, comprehensive representations to be made to the Local Authority. It’s about tightening the wording, making sure professional advice is properly reflected, and ensuring nothing important is lost or diluted in the final plan.

Alongside the written representations, I spend time explaining to parents what to look out for in an EHCP and why the wording really matters. Too often, plans fall down not because needs aren’t recognised, but because they aren’t described or specified clearly enough.

Understanding this empowers parents to continue advocating with confidence and helps ensure that support is led by a child’s needs — not by resources.

🎄 Merry Christmas to all our families

Christmas can bring moments of joy — and for many SEND families, it can also bring additional challenges around routines, expectations, and food.

It’s okay if:
• Not everyone eats at the same time
• Safe foods are prioritised
• Moments of joy sit alongside moments of overwhelm
• Timings and traditions look different

Moving away from cultural expectations to meet your child’s needs is not a failure — it’s responsive, compassionate parenting.

For anyone finding food particularly tricky at this time of year, this podcast may be helpful:

We've been quiet on social media lately. This is because we have been busy with the usual summer term influx of inquiries, which are often caused by poor handling and decision-making at the phase transfer dates.

Since February, we have been able to overturn five EHCP refusal to asses via tribunal, resolve three complaints involving failures related to transport and the lack of Section 19 provisions, and secure four tribunal decisions in favour of parents. We have also supported families' transition to EOTAS packages and assisted with case management and transfer of educational provisions.

Despite the fantastic results, I use the term ‘success’ lightly. Watching parents have to endure the stressful process of hearings, being left without accessible transport, and children without any educational offerings should not happen—the trauma the families have faced and delays in assessments are impactful and challenging to witness.

Every family I have worked with have shown incredible strength in advocating for their children. I have been proud to facilitate and work with them to get the right outcome.

We are starting to wind down as we prepare for a summer break. We will continue to support case management until the end of the term and then take a break to return in September. We will respond to emails as soon as possible; however, replies may be delayed during the summer period. You never know, we may also have some time to update our social media more regularly. 🤞

Keep fighting, keep strong, keep believing. 🫶

Thanks also to the lovely family who sent me this card, you are all fantastic and make this job so worthwhile.

Sam x
