People often ask me what I actually do.

The short answer?

I help people communicate more clearly.

That might mean:
📚 Editing a manuscript
✍🏻 Writing blog content
đź’» Refreshing website copy
đź“– Preparing a book for publication

Every project is different, but the aim is always the same.

To make writing feel less overwhelming and help people share their ideas with confidence.

If you've got a writing project you've been putting off, I'd be happy to have a chat and see how I can help.

Sometimes all it takes is the right conversation to get things moving.

Website Wisdom...

When was the last time you really read your own website?

Your website should answer the questions your potential customers are already asking - and they shouldn't have to go digging for the answers.

Your website should answer the questions your potential customers are already asking - and they shouldn't have to go digging for th answers.

- It should be easy to navigate.
- It should sound like your business today - not the business you were three years ago.
And most importantly...
- It should make visitors feel confident about getting in touch.

If your website hasn't been reviewed in a while, it might be worth reading it with a fresh set of eyes.

You might be surprised by what you notice.

I challenge you to go and review even just one page - and if you feel it needs work, let me know, and together we can bring it back to life.

One of my favourite moments when editing isn't spotting a typo.

It's reaching the point where everything suddenly clicks.

The structure works.

The ideas flow.

The author's voice shines through.

People sometimes imagine that editing is all about correcting grammar.

Of course, that's a part of it. But good editing is really about helping someone's message come across exactly as they intended.

Whether it's a business website or a manuscript, my goal is never to change someone's voice.

It's to make that voice stronger and clearer.

That's the part of my job I'll never get tired of.

**Myth: You need to be a brilliant writer before you can publish a book.**

You don't.

Some of the best books I've worked on started with rough drafts.

- The ideas were there.

- The passion was there.

- The author's voice was there.

What they needed was guidance, structure and editing.

Writing is a skill.

Editing is a process.

Publishing is a journey.

Nobody expects a house to be built without an architect or electrician.

Books are no different.

Every published author has had help somewhere along the way.

If you've been putting off writing because you think your draft isn't good enough, don't let that stop you.

First drafts are meant to be imperfect.

That's exactly what editing is for.

Save this post for the day you need a reminder - nothing has to be perfect.

✍️ Writing Tip Wednesday

One of the quickest ways to make writing feel difficult is trying to edit every sentence as you write it.

Your brain is trying to do two completely different jobs:

📝 Create ideas.

🔍 Critique ideas.

The result?

- You slow yourself down and often lose your train of thought.

Instead, give yourself permission to write a messy first draft.

- Don't worry about spelling.

- Don't worry about grammar.

- Don't worry if it isn't perfect.

Just get the words onto the page.

Editing is where the magic happens—but only if you've got something to edit.

What's your biggest writing habit? Do you edit as you go, or leave it until the end?

Have you ever stared at a blank page wondering where to start?

Whether you're writing a book, creating website content or trying to keep your business blog updated, it can feel overwhelming.

One of the biggest misconceptions I come across is that good writing has to sound impressive.

It doesn't.

Good writing is simply writing that connects with the person reading it.

Over the years I've worked with authors and businesses at all stages of their writing journey, and one thing I've learnt is this:

The complicated bits can always be simplified.

- Sometimes you need someone to help organise your ideas.

- Sometimes you need another pair of eyes.

- Sometimes you just need reassurance that you're heading in the right direction.

That's where I love helping.

Writing doesn't have to be perfect.

It just has to be clear, honest and written with your reader in mind.

What's the biggest writing challenge you face?

I'd love to hear.

Why have I been talking about websites so much lately?

Because helping YOU to tell YOUR story, to connect with YOUR audience, is what I love doing.

I know that sometimes it’s hard to get clear on your messaging, and it’s even harder to blow your own trumpet so let me do that for you.

I will get to know your business, who your ideal clients are, and how you want to help them - all before I put pen to paper.

I can review your current content and make adjustments and re-writes to ensure it is work b hard for you or I can write brand new content for you, taking into account relevant SEO and keywords to help with your discoverability.

I can help you to work on the overall structure and flow of your site.

And at every step I will keep your business, your ethos, and your goals at the heart of the content.

If any of this sounds like what you need right now then get in touch today xx

This week’s focus: Websites

In the spotlight today: SEO Foundations

Many websites look great visually but miss important search visibility basics.

Without strong SEO foundations, potential clients may never even discover the excellent services you offer.

SEO isn’t some big scary hard to master thing, but it also isn’t a once and done activity either. SEO should be at thwart of all of your content.

Good SEO doesn’t always require major technical changes, often it starts with structured content, well-written headings, keyword-aligned content, and properly formatted blog articles.

I support businesses by:
• Reviewing on-page SEO fundamentals
• Rewriting pages to improve search relevance
• Structuring headings and page content effectively
• Creating SEO-friendly blog content
• Ensuring pages are targeting the right search intent

Small improvements made consistently can significantly increase long-term website visibility.

If you want your website to work harder at attracting organic enquiries, I’d be happy to help review your current content.

This week’s focus: Websites

Today we’re looking at: Messaging & Clarity

A common issue I see on many websites is unclear messaging. Businesses know what they do, but the website doesn’t always communicate it quickly or clearly enough for new visitors.

Visitors should immediately understand:
• Who you help
• What you offer
• How you solve their problem
• What they should do next

If they have to “figure it out,” they often leave.

I work with business owners to refine and strengthen their website messaging by:
• Rewriting headlines and key sections for clarity
• Aligning content with your ideal client
• Strengthening service descriptions to highlight real benefits
• Ensuring consistent tone and positioning across the site

Clear messaging doesn’t just make your site sound better — it makes it convert better.

If your website feels vague or isn’t generating the enquiries you expected, I’d love to help you change that.

This week’s focus: Websites

And today specifically: User Experience (UX)

When someone lands on your website, you only have a few seconds to make a strong first impression.

If visitors feel confused, overwhelmed, or unsure where to click next, they often leave your site, even if your services are exactly what they need.

Many business owners invest time creating their website but rarely review how easy it is for visitors to actually use it. Are your menus clear? Is your call-to-action obvious? Can someone understand what you offer within the first 10 seconds? Not sure? Then the answer is no.

A well-structured, easy-to-navigate website quietly works behind the scenes to guide visitors toward becoming customers.

I can help you to improve your website experience through:
• Navigation and structure reviews
• Call-to-action optimisation
• Page flow and visitor journey improvements
• Simplifying cluttered layouts to increase engagement

Sometimes small usability tweaks can dramatically increase enquiries and conversions.

If you suspect your website could be easier for visitors to navigate, let’s chat.
