The knowledge we share both academic and cultural is specially sourced through our founder Shaykh Mohammed Zaqir and his personal input on this page! Founder of Darul Arqam Educational Trust (Masjid and provider of Islamic online courses in Leicester) Shaykh Mohammed Zaqir graduated from Manchester University with BA Hons in Politics and Economics. He then proceeded to study in Damascus, Syria for 8 years at the prestigious Abu Noor Institute and studied several classical and spiritual disciplines of Islamic Knowledge at the hands of some of the most prominent Scholars from the tradition. Having graduated from his studies in Damascus, Shaykh Zaqir proceeded to study in the illuminated city of Tarim, Hadramawt. There, he studied at the eminent institute of Dar Ul Mustafa under the qualified hands of some of the most illustrious guides of knowledge. Having advanced to teaching Arabic in Tarim, Shaykh Zaqir felt that his home community needed spiritual enrichment, hence he returned and became the founder of Darul Arqam Educational Trust, Leicester. The Trust educates many children in the Islamic Sciences and Qur’an recitation, provides courses for adults (online and in person) and also hosts events as well as regular spiritual retreats in the UK and abroad. Being classically trained in the sacred sciences he has attained formal Ijaazahs in various Islamic Disciplines. Despite his extensive knowledge in all these areas, his specialism is in the sciences of Islamic Theology. Sheikh Zaqir is currently the founder and director of Darul Arqam Educational Trust, and Revive Darul Arqam, a humanitarian aid charity specialising in relief for war victims in Yemen and Syria. He is also the founder of many other grass roots organisations and initiatives, focusing on bettering his community through his academic capabilities.
