At 100 years old, he continues to inspire and inform people around the world today.
As a tribute to Sir David, we've searched our archives for memories of his many visits to the city over the years. Read more here:

The Forestry Youth camp is a fully funded summer camp in west Wales for 18-21 year olds, to give them a positive and transformative experience in the outdoors, connect them with trees and ultimately consider a career in caring for trees and forests in all of the varied ways that is possible and necessary for the future sustainability of our forests. The forestry industry is sorely lacking in diversity and we need diverse ways of thinking, being and doing if we are to address the challenges we are facing.

It will be a week of fun, learning and adventure, connecting with nature and each other, exploring what trees do for us, learning about forest ecology, crafting with trees, fire making, working in the woods, cooking together on a fire, stargazing, exploring and fireside fun.

All costs are fully covered including travel, camping kit and outdoor gear as well as the full cost of the camp itself. It’s funded by the Scottish and Welsh governments and run in collaboration with Bangor University Forestry Department.
