Instagram have finally done something that actually helps tattoo artists.

You can now reorder your grid.

Which means your best work no longer has to disappear 30 posts down your profile.

Your profile can finally work more like a portfolio and less like a timeline.

If you don’t have the feature yet, make sure your Instagram app is fully updated as it’s still being rolled out across accounts.

Once you get it, be strategic.

Move your strongest work, healed results and client favourites to the front of your profile.

The artists who use this well are going to make a much stronger first impression.

The difference isn’t talent.

It’s understanding.

When artists know why they’re doing something, they become more confident, more consistent, and improve faster.

These are first tattoos.

The real achievement is the understanding behind them.

“The industry is oversaturated” gets thrown around a lot…

But the numbers don’t really support it.

Based on current estimates, there are around 4,200 potential clients per tattoo artist in the UK.

Jade tattoos around 192 clients a year.
That’s roughly 4 clients a week.

At that rate, even without repeat clients, that client pool could theoretically sustain an artist for over 20 years.

And tattooing isn’t a one-visit industry.
Good artists build repeat clientele, trust, and long-term relationships.

The issue isn’t too many people entering the industry.

It’s people entering without proper guidance, fundamentals, support, or understanding of what actually sustains a long-term career.

Tattooing is evolving.
Standards are getting higher.
Clients are becoming more selective.

There’s room in this industry.

Just do it properly.
