⭐️ Funding opportunity! ⭐️

The Coop has funding available to support local charities, schools & community groups with:

⭐️Accessing food and meals
⭐️Creating opportunities for young people
⭐️Improving mental wellbeing
⭐️Promoting community cohesion
⭐️Building sustainable futures

🙌All of which Cook Stars can happily help with!

I can’t apply for this funding as a business myself - but if you know of an organisation (eg scout or guide group etc) that might like some funded cooking sessions please tag them beneath or get in touch! 🍳🧑🏻‍🍳

Funding Opportunity for Grassroots Projects Near Co-op Food Stores (UK - Various Locations)

The food retailer, the Co-op has announced that grants are still available in a small number of areas for small charities, voluntary and community groups, and other not-for-profit organisations to support projects that benefit local communities centred around Co-op Food Stores.

This year the Fund is looking to support projects that enable people to access food, create opportunities for young people, improve people’s mental wellbeing, promote community cohesion and build sustainable futures.

A total of £5 million in funding is available, with £6,000 to share between three local causes in each community.

Funding is determined by Co-op community members who vote on the project they wish to support.

Groups that can apply include:

- Churches or Chapels that are excepted charities
- Co-operative Societies
- Schools
- Community Benefit Societies
- Community Interest Companies
- Credit Unions
- Registered Charities
- Social Enterprises
- Scout, Guide or Woodcraft Folk groups
- Any other not-for-profit group

Applications for projects that promote and celebrate diversity and inclusion are encouraged.

The closing date for applications is midnight on 24 June 2026.

Information on which communities can still apply is available on the Co-op website via a Postcode checker.

I don’t think this report is surprising to anyone who has been near a supermarket lately! We all want to feed our children good, nutritious food to fuel them and nourish them in the right way…but it is becoming harder & harder to do so when ‘healthy food is nearly twice as expensive per calorie as less healthy food’ and supermarkets continue to offer /promote high-sugar, high-fat convenience items at us 🥺.

🥣🍌I think this is another reason why learning from a young age the value of nutritious, whole ingredients and being able to cook from scratch and improvise with ingredients is so essential to us all!

🥣⭐️🙌 The Cook Stars did a fab job tonight at our Tuesday after-school club at St Peter’s & St Paul’s in Yeadon - they measured, stirred, rubbed and mixed together a dough before dividing it up to make our yummy fruity rock cakes!!!

They looked phenomenal and I wanted to steal them & eat them all. Apparently I’m not allowed to though 😆

Well done guys, enjoy your rock cakes!

☀️ We’re all hoping for plenty of sunshine this summer, but we know the British weather can be unpredictable! If a rainy day appears, why not turn it into a baking day? 👩🍳🌧️

Cookies, brownies, muffins, cupcakes, pizza or banana bread are all fun, hands-on recipes that children love helping to make - and they keep little hands busy for hours. 🍪🍕🧁

Or, if you’d rather avoid the mess at home, why not join us in class or workshop and let us deal with the washing up? 😄✨
