In our Other World Faiths lesson, we learnt about Prince Siddhartha, who later became the Buddha🌟

We enjoyed retelling the story of Siddhartha and thinking about the importance of kindness. The children then created their own kindness crowns to show all the different ways we can demonstrate kindness to others. 👑💛

We focused on developing our fundamental skills, including running, coordination, balance and spatial awareness. Everyone worked so hard and showed fantastic enthusiasm throughout the lesson.

This afternoon, the whole school came together to learn about our new handwriting scheme. Over the course of the year, the children will be developing their handwiriting, by learning, writing and reading in different positions to develop their core strength. After learning about the different animal positions, the children paired up and read part of their book to each other in the different positions.

Today, we celebrated the start of the academic year with a wonderful Mass led by Fr Michael. At the end of Mass, Fr Michael, blessed our class candles for the year ahead and asked the Holy Spirit to pour out in all that we do at Holy Name. Today, our entire staff team gathered to begin the new year in prayer. We reflected on the school's mission statement: Loving, Learning, Living, Laughing: Together in Faith. In a moment of quiet prayer, we lit candles for our own intentions and the intentions of the entire school community.

It was lovely to provide a special welcome to our new teachers, support staff and wrap around care team.
