PHASE III: POLITICAL ART

It is always good to have a voice in society and be given the chance to voice your opinions. Politics is something that we will almost inevitably come across in our everyday life. For our piece on this, we decided to tackle the concept of the male gaze. We believe that whatever a woman chooses to wear is her choice and a man’s opinion should not prioritise how she looks at herself. To do this, we collaborated with Accent Clothing for the gorgeous suits on our guys and on the ladies.

Fashion can be used to help others as well as the society. The items we choose to wear can say a lot: whether it be that we wear brands that do not use child labour and underpaid workers or for example these beautiful garments by Just Harry Designs who use recycled denim for her designs⠀

⁣PHASE I: STORY TELLING ART⠀

As much as we we wear clothes, our choice of outfits can be used to tell a story, whether intentionally or not. It can range from saying something about ourselves or something about an entirely different concept. For example beautiful outfits used gorgeous embroidery to tell the story about windrush while at the same time displaying elegance and class in Caribbean culture.⠀
