Our Story

Duckegg Theatre Company is a Social Enterprise, with its roots in lovely North Lincolnshire, dedicated to the creation of professional new writing with young people at its heart. Over the past decade we have developed links with high profile companies and Drama Schools to bring the creation of high quality theatrical work to the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Our education department – the Acting School – is a thriving community of amazing Duckegg business owners and over 500 wonderfully eccentric young people taking part in regular theatre classes, LAMDA examinations and projects. They are our lifeblood and we rightfully place them at the heart of everything we do. Our youth members are valued in every area of the business and have tangible input into our professional work.

Duckegg Theatre Company was founded by Haley Muralee. Haley is a Mum, Director, Playwright, Producer, Teacher and Examiner. Sometimes in this order.

She began her career as a Drama Teacher after graduating BA(Hons) in Drama and Education at Bishop Grosseteste College, Lincoln. She then read Theatre Directing at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and Education at the University of Huddersfield as a postgraduate. She currently writes with the Royal Court, London, teaches at a number of Drama Schools nationally, examines for LAMDA (the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) and works as a freelance director, writer and producer, as well as running her beloved Duckegg Theatre Company.
