We are committed to providing the best educational experience for every child on our roll and we do this by creating an exciting and engaging curriculum that captures the children’s interests and promotes an enthusiastic and active approach to learning. They need to be curious and skilled at solving problems. They should be able to use ICT as a useful tool in their learning, as technology is not just a part of their future but very much a part of our present too.

Today, Miss Emery was delighted to host the first Yorkshire and Humber Reception Network at Whitkirk, focusing on effective transition into Reception.
It was a valuable opportunity to share how we plan transition at Whitkirk for our wonderful Whitkirk families and children, ensuring every child feels secure, supported and ready for the start of their school journey.
Colleagues from across Leeds and Wakefield joined us for rich discussion, shared practice and reflection, including alignment with the DfE Getting Ready for Reception guidance.

Miss Quarmby and Miss Emery have taken Phonics Fred on an adventure to London today for the RISE Reception Network conference. He’s been helping us gather ideas, inspiration and best practice so we can make the very most of our role as a Lead Reception School for Leeds and Wakefield.
