OUR FOUNDER STORY PART 2โ
From resourcing reclaimed wood to our very first workshops. ๐ชต
Swipe to see how a chance meeting and a shared passion for sustainability and empowering young people changed everything for The PIECES Project! ๐
In Part 2 of our story, weโre looking back at how a conversation about reclaimed materials with Ian from Morley Glass turned into our very first Creative Enterprise Challenge. ๐
Since that day, Morley Glass has become our Strategic Impact Partner. Their continued belief in our mission is the perfect example of what happens when local businesses invest in the next generation. It is because of forward-thinking support like this that we were able to reach 140 young people in our very first year alone! ๐ช
Four years on, and we have saved countless wooden boxes and wooden inserts from being sent to landfil. We have also helped over 4,000 young people to learn important employability skills!
A massive thank you to everyone who sees our vision and helps us bridge the gap between education and enterprise.

We had the pleasure of visiting the Year 6 leavers at Co-Op academy Oakwood, who took part in a Creative Welling Workshop. The students made School Leavers Signs, and enjoyed discussing their time in Primary School and what they want to do in the future.๐
The young people were really enthusiastic about the workshop, and enjoyed spending this time away from regular classes, to give themselves a chance to do something creative. They shared their ideas and feedback with each other by helping each other correct and improve their creations.๐จ๐ผโ๐จ
It was so wonderful to see the range of work going on, and listening to them enjoy their time together before moving schools! We wish all the students leaving Oakwood Academy the best of luck with their move!๐

A sunny session at CATCH!๐
We couldnโt miss our chance to have a session in the sun this evening at .leeds, so we were making Picture Frames outside๐
This is an activity we have done before and was another opportunity to develop our creative ideas and make another product we love just as much! Our young members designed some great stuff and had a lovely session๐จ๐ผโ๐จ
We hope this sun stays so we can keep being creative over the summer and grow our ideas. We love being a part of Wednesday youth sessions, and contributing to a safe space for young people in the area to come and do something crafty๐

We had a fun filled session this week at CATCH, and really tested our creative abilities!๐
This week we were making cards for special occasions, as well as taking part in a special wallpaper fashion show! Card making was a great way to chill and do something creative, and really encouraged the members to get involved in the other activities going on. It was great to see the creative scale!
We love coming to CATCH and working with their young people, being able to cater to different groups, and watching their artistic vision come to life๐จ๐ผโ๐จ

We are absolutely thrilled to share this wonderful feedback following a recent visit to our Creative Studio! ๐
Operating out of a converted double-decker bus based at CATCH in Harehills, Leeds, we love providing a vibrant and inspiring setting for creativity.
A huge thank you to our partners at CATCH, an award-winning youth and community organisation that provides a safe, supportive space for young people to thrive. Their incredible educational farm features llamas, goats, chickens, alpacas and much more, making it a perfect way to blend creativity, nature, and wellbeing in one memorable visit!

Another creative session at CATCH !
We had fun this evening getting creative and painting rocks as part of our collaboration with .leeds. We love coming and working with you all, and seeing how confident our young members become when getting creative.
Youth sessions are a way for young people in the area to come and chill, socialise, and have fun. We provide a safe space for members to come and do something crafty,
and we love being a part of the Wednesday sessions!
