It has been a glorious week at Farsley Farfield: bright sunshine and plenty of options to enjoy the grounds. A prospective parent once said during a tour: “Your school looks very well-used.” We took this as a compliment. A DfE surveyor also once commented that ours were the best school grounds he had ever seen.

A tour of the site at lunchtime this week showed this in all its glory with our adventurous children clearly making the most of the site and the play opportunities they are given. Children can play games and sports, climb and swing, make dens, dig, spend time with the animals, run around, or just relax with friends. With the blossom out, fresh leaves unfurling and brilliant blue skies, it is a beautiful place to be.

A Farfield child is a lucky child.

The Yorkshire Evening Post has analysed the KS2 SATs results from 2025 and has declared Farfield joint 7th across our huge city for reading standards.

There are over 220 primary schools in Leeds so this is quite an achievement!

See the article here: https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/education/15-best-leeds-primary-schools-reading-skills-5623718?page=2

58% of our children last year achieved the ‘greater depth’ grade in their Y6 reading SAT compared to just 33% nationally.

We have a strong reading culture in school and excellent teaching. Reading standards are a cornerstone for successful education and our children do so well!

Looking for a nursery or Reception place for September 2026 or 2027? Every day is an open day at Farsley Farfield Primary School (near Dawson's Corner/Pudsey Civic).

We have happy children and families, fabulous Y6 SATS results, superb grounds inc Farfield Farm, very good Ofsted reports, "exceptional" support for children with SEND, positive diversity and a superb PTA. We were national Healthy School of the Year in 2017.

Come and have a tour - there's lots to see!

Our newest animals on the school farm arrived on Friday. They are seriously cute. The children were excited to see them today and would like to name one Ronaldo: apparently 'the GOAT'.

They have plenty of space in the top orchard and they will eventually be moved around the site to clear one or two areas that are a bit overgrown.

We now have the Three Billy Goats Gruff as well as The Three Little Pigs. We have giant, tall runner beans in the polytunnel. Farfield is the land of traditional tales!

New Farfield teacher Mr Nehaul was busy on Saturday morning up on the school farm. Could this mean we have some more animals coming?

Many thanks to Farfield PTA, SISK, Nicole Gilhooley and to Wickes for their support with materials.

If anyone has any spare patio slabs/flags, we would gladly take them for a bit more hard-standing.

Camp-Over is in full swing! Having a smashing time in the sunshine. Quite possibly the best PTA! (Hose pipe ban doesn't apply as we are a council-run water park today - 750 people sharing a couple of hose pipes.)
