The first week back after the half term break is another reading celebration week. During this week, we will have a Scholastic book fair afterschool on Weds 3rd - Friday 5th June from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.
For every book purchased, the school will earn rewards to spend on new books for our libraries and for working parents or those that can't make it, we will send out an order form nearer the time.
Please come along and join us! 📚

Last week we had so many exciting things happening! ✨
On Tuesday our Y5 student Christina held an assembly - This assembly taught pupils about road safety when animals, such as horses and dogs, are in close proximity to other road users and pedestrians. It was a fantastic opportunity for Christina to present in front of an audience and develop both her public speaking and oracy skills.
On Wednesday we said a temporary goodbye to Sevvy, our beloved reading dog, and welcomed some delightful ducklings instead. The children were absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to stroke and care for them, and we're already looking forward to their return next week. It's moments like these that remind us how important it is to nurture our pupils' connection with the natural world.
Our Year 6 pupils will be sitting their SATS this week, and they have worked tirelessly throughout the year in preparation. We wish them every success as they take this important step in their learning journey. Good luck Year 6!

Yesterday, our Year 6 were visited by two lovely members of the Mindmate Support Team, who delivered a workshop focused on understanding anxiety. The children explored what anxiety is and discussed the physical symptoms we might notice in our bodies. They also learned about the “fight, flight, or freeze” response and how this can affect the way we react in certain situations.
As part of the session, the children created their own emotional toolbox, filled with strategies they can use both at home and in school to help manage feelings of anxiety.
We have held this workshop now in preparation for SATs week and beyond, so we can best support the pupils with any anxiety they may have.

A big thank you to Tammy & John for their hard work making our Forest School more secure! We are extremely lucky to have this provision here at Pool Primary, our pupils visit weekly rotating year groups on a termly basis, learning invaluable skills & having fun in the outdoors!
We also want to highlight the wonderful work of the Log Circle, who work tirelessly to enhance our Peace Garden and Forest School offer. They run a variety of inclusive classes and sessions that cater to different age groups – from preschool and baby groups through to sessions for teenagers and adults. We're really keen to maintain this provision, but it does need to attract more participants to continue. If you'd like to find out more or book a session, please follow the link below or speak to our office team:

Today members of staff and the Pool community met to remember Sabine Stoves. Sabine was part of the Pool School family for many years as a parent, volunteer and teaching assistant. Her love for the outdoors and her creativity was shared with so many of our children. We send our love to Sabine’s family and friends at this sad time.

Everyone at Pool CE Primary is extremely sad to hear about the passing of Richard Parker. Mr Parker was a valued and loved teacher for 37 years, followed by a respected and dedicated member of the governing body. Pool will not be the same without you, Mr P. Thank you for everything you did for the school and the community. We send love to his family and friends.

- £2k towards the annual upgrade of IT facilities
- £650 to purchase specialist dyslexia screening equipment
- annual donation of £250 towards the Y6 leavers party
- £225 to gift a new book to every child in school at the end of the Christmas term
- £300 towards fixing the pond in the Peace Garden (happening in the spring)
Our next big project involves raising funds to transform the main school corridors with acrylic interactive displays to enhance learning, foster creativity and bring a whole new modern look to the school interior!
