Tired of reading rejection emails for the jobs you applied for?
Follow these simple steps to improve your chances of getting an interview call:
a. Customize your CV to match the job description - that doesn't mean lying about your work experience, it's more about highlighting the relevant work experience, transferable skills and your personality that makes you a good fit for the job. Screen the Job description carefully and highlight the key words. Now, map your CV with the key words you selected.
b. Write a winning cover letter - this is your chance to connect with the hiring manager. Your opportunity to use your voice and highlight your personal brand. Do your home work about the brand, see what they are doing, what their mission is. Use this information in your cover letter to vocalise how you can contribute to the organization.
c. Does your LinkedIn profile contradict what you have said in your CV? Check that and make sure you sound consistent.
d. Is your CV too long? Make sure it is succinct. It's not about talking about everything you did in your previous jobs. Learn to filter and prioritise, a skill that is in demand these days - choose the right filter not only when you are seeking information but also while giving out information.
Hope this helps. If you need more support on this drop a comment or feel free to reach out.
