English at SJLT ✏️📚✨

In my English sessions at SJ Learning & Tuition, I focus on building positive relationships so children feel safe, supported and ready to grow in confidence. When children enjoy learning, their progress follows.

I try to meet every child exactly where they are – even if that means gently filling gaps from previous year groups – and I tailor sessions through 1:1 support or small, friendly groups of 3 or 4 where children can learn together and build confidence alongside their peers.

We practise key skills like spelling, phonics, letter formation and handwriting, as well as reading and writing. Sessions build skills such as how to describe characters and settings, use punctuation accurately, and understand the technical vocabulary children encounter in school (such as word class and other pretty tricky grammar).

With high-quality books and stories, short videos, games and engaging phonics resources, I keep sessions purposeful, encouraging and fun – helping every child grow in skill, self-belief and a genuine love of English 🌟

Some families choose to home educate from the very start. For others, it’s a step taken after a long journey.
It might be a long-term plan, or a short-term pause while a child finds their feet again.

Whatever the reason, whatever the route, every child deserves to feel safe, confident, and capable as a learner.

A big part of my work is supporting primary-age children who are home educated, right here in their local community. I work gently and patiently with children at any level, meeting them exactly where they are and helping them move forward at a pace that feels right for them.

My sessions aren’t just about learning outcomes (though those matter too 😉), they’re about:

⭐️ supporting meaningful educational progress
