As we begin the new academic term, we’re welcoming September with a little reflection on how much the children have grown, developed and learned over the past year. 💛

The children had so much fun exploring and learning all about colours, discovering the different tools and materials we can use to get creative, and developing their confidence as they identified and celebrated themselves and their individuality. 🎨✨

It’s been wonderful to see their curiosity, creativity and confidence grow throughout the year, and we can’t wait to see what the new academic term brings! 🌈

The very hungry caterpillar theme.
The past week the children have been learning all about the caterpillar whilst we've been waiting for our caterpillars to cocoon.

The caterpillars are now in their cocoon, our knowledge on them is very high. Now lets see what our butterflies have in store for us.

🐛 The Very Hungry Caterpillar 🍎🦋

With the arrival of our caterpillars this week, we have been learning all about The Very Hungry Caterpillar and the different foods he ate throughout the week.

Today, we took a walk to our local supermarket, where the children looked through the story and picked out the foods that the caterpillar ate on his journey to becoming a beautiful butterfly. 🍎🍐🍓

Back at the setting, the children enjoyed a messy-play activity using their fine motor skills. They carefully added coloured water to cotton pads to create their very own caterpillars. 🐛💧

The children then listened to the story before taking part in another fine motor activity. They carefully threaded the different pieces of food onto the caterpillar string, following the foods eaten each day of the week. This was a great opportunity to practise hand-eye coordination, concentration and sequencing skills.

This afternoon, we had a yummy food tuff tray set up, with the days of the week and all the foods eaten by the caterpillar. The children had the chance to try the different foods for snack… including the chocolate cake! 🍰😋

What a fun and busy day of learning, exploring and getting a little messy! 🐛🦋

Little Cubs had a visit to Folkestone beach on Tuesday. Where they splashed in the sea, built sand castles & finished it off with a ice cream 🍦
