P R O G R E S S > P E R F E C T I O N

You might be the slowest.

You might be the weakest.

But if you keep showing up, even when you can’t give 100%, you’ll be better than you were.

Because giving 50% is better than doing nothing.

If you keep showing up and doing the little things each day that will benefit your health, then over time you’ll be healthier than you were.

And that’s all that matters.

Progress over perfection.

And if you keep putting one foot in front of the other, eventually you’ll get to your destination.

*this post popped up from a year a go of me putting one foot infront of the other, hanging out my arse up a hill trying to catch &

A bit about me for any new followers here.

I’ve been passionate about fitness since I was 16, and over the last 17 years, it’s become not just a career but a core part of who I am. Starting as a personal trainer in Sydney, Australia, I built my foundation working with diverse clients before moving on to London and Manchester. Recently, I made the decision to relocate to the Lake District to be closer to my two daughters.

Throughout my 15 years as a personal trainer, I’ve had the privilege of working with countless clients from all walks of life, each with their unique goals and challenges. What I’ve learned is that I work best with men and women in their 30s and 40s who want to live healthier, happier lives without giving up the things they enjoy. Whether it’s shedding a bit of weight, feeling more energetic, or being fit enough to keep up with their kids as they grow, I take pride in helping people find that balance.

I’m not just a trainer—I’m someone who truly understands the importance of variety and fun when it comes to staying active. From running to boxing, hiking to golf, I believe fitness is about more than just aesthetics; it’s about longevity, resilience, and being able to fully engage with the life you love.

Above all, I’m a dad, and that perspective drives me to help others prioritise their health not just for themselves but for their families too.

And if that resonates with you and you want me to help you towards your health & fitness goals then feel free to get in touch.

Two of the best and happiest results that have happened over the years.

Yes it’s nice to have a 6 pack but for some it’s more important to get their health in order, reducing their cholesterol, reversing diabetes and having a better quality of life.

To see someone who was petrified of coming to the gym for fear of judgement, struggled with confidence issues, and had various health issues. To then becoming an avid attendee who makes it a daily part of their life, reversing their health problems and feeling 10x more confident in themselves is the best transformation for me.

6 packs are cool and all that, but seeing someone make a massive change in their life is cooler.

One of the s**t things about getting older - apart from the grey hairs, endless responsibilities, and having to be an actual adult - is our energy levels seem to disappear.

Which is why it’s important to develop sustainable habits around your health and fitness.

Here’s a few things you can start doing:

1. Focus on small, consistent changes

Think short daily workouts - as opposed to trying to overhaul your entire life to become an athlete overnight.

2. Prioritise strength training

Your muscle mass withers away if you don’t use it, it also declines naturally when we age. So if you don’t want to have the durability of a piece of dried spaghetti then aim for a minimum of three strength sessions a week (strength sessions means using weights)

3. Prioritise recovery

I know you don’t like to hear this - but you aren’t 20 years old anymore. You can’t treat your body like you most of the people on Instagram. Your body will take longer to recover from bouts of exercise. Sleep, hydration and active recovery are important. Stretching, walking, saunas, cold water plunges will become your allies.

4. Fuel your body properly

Nutrition plays a fundamental part in your energy levels and recovery. Eat more nutrient dense foods and prioritise protein at each meal.

5. Do stuff to clear your head

Mediation, float therapy, massages and plenty of time outside, staying connected to your friends and community will all help keep your mental health in check. Schedule time in your diary each week for stuff like this.

As much as working out is great for your mental health, it doesn’t mean that you can just keep smashing fitness and running longer distances to make your problems go away.

Overdoing it with your fitness can lead to burnout, making your body unable to recover properly and leaving your mind in the bin.

Recovery or “mental health” days are equally as important to your over all results.

Your body recovers when you rest - so does your mind.

So instead of smashing more workouts and working yourself into oblivion. Get outside and enjoy nature. Spend some time just chilling on the couch without guilt. Go for a long walk - not for the sake of burning calories - but to clear your mind and de stress.

Your body and mind will respond better to that than anything else.

Boxing X Mental Health

Much like running, I use boxing as a tool to help me with my mental health. I don’t care about being a fighter, I care about feeling better, and helping my clients feel better too.

It’s something that keeps my mind peaceful, and my stress and anxieties at bay.

I’ve not met anyone yet who’s done a session on the pads with me and hasn’t felt mentally better afterwards.

Will it solve all the problems going on in your life? Of course not. But will it clear some space in your head to help you think a bit better? Most definitely.

👀 Looking for my hairline …

Had a great hike up Helvellyn this morning. I hadn’t been out on a hike in a while and it’s something I’m going to introduce more of into my schedule.

If you want to get involved in the next social hike, next month then let me know.
