This Monday (18th August) we still have spaces at Wool & Willow holiday club.

The day runs 9–3 and is packed with the kind of things children remember — bread making, kite building, grain milling, animal encounters and plenty of time to just play.

£40 for the full day, £25 for a half day.

If your child needs somewhere brilliant to be on Monday, message me today.

We’d set up for bread and beeswax. Both happened — beautifully.

But at some point three of them quietly pulled every cushion and fabric they could find and built a den in the middle of the room. So we made space for that too.

That’s not losing the plan. That’s the plan working. When children feel safe, settled and unhurried, they start to direct themselves. They stop waiting to be told what to do next.

I think that’s worth protecting.

Sessions run Monday full days and Tuesday afternoons — message me if you’d like to find out more.

There's a particular kind of quiet that happens when a child is kneading bread dough. Shoulders drop. Breathing slows. The questions stop for a minute.

That's the pace we're building our summer holiday club around — not back-to-back activities, but the kind of unhurried days where a child can actually sink into what they're doing. Baking, painting, storytelling, time outside, and daily visits to the animals (rabbits and guinea pigs included — they're already very used to small, curious hands).

If your child is 5–8 and you're after something calmer for the school holidays, we'd love to have them.

They loved this one.

Yesterday's walk gave us everything we needed — leaves, petals, grass seed heads, all the little things that caught their eye along the way. Today we laid them out onto paper that's been waiting for the sun.

Then we waited. The sun did the work. Where the light touched, the paper turned a deep blue. Where a leaf sat, the shape stayed pale, like a shadow with a memory.

Then the best bit — running it under water and watching the colours shift right in front of them. A few small gasps. A lot of "do it again."

It's chemistry, it's art, it's a walk outside, carried over two days — all in one piece of paper.

Today we celebrated the sun.

We foraged for buddleia and dandelions on our walk, then wove them into summer crowns. The same walk filled our jars for sun tea, steeped slowly while we played. We drank it with warm bread, still amazed it really works just from sitting in the light.
Later, at the park, a few brave ones held a corn snake. No hesitation. No fuss. Just curiosity.

None of it was rushed. None of it needed to be.

🌈 What a magical week at Wool & Willow!

This week our little makers painted luminous watercolour rainbows, sculpted entire worlds out of clay — complete with a Little Red Riding Hood forest! 🐺🌲 — shaped and pressed their own bread dough, drew their wildest imaginings in crayon, and even made friends with the very relaxed hen Winifred🐔

Every activity was chosen to nurture creativity, fine motor skills, sensory exploration, and the pure joy of making things with your hands.

This is what a rich, play-based learning day looks like. No screens. No worksheets. Just curious children, beautiful materials, and space to create.

We have a handful of spots still open for new students! 🌿 Whether you're looking for a nurturing creative environment for your child or want to explore something different, we'd love to welcome your family.

Wool & Willow is a small, nurturing, Waldorf-inspired creative provision for children in the early primary years.

Our sessions follow a gentle weekly rhythm of storytelling, handwork, bread making, painting, outdoor play and visits to see the animals.

It isn’t a formal academic group, but children naturally build confidence, language, coordination, independence, social skills and creativity through meaningful practical work, play and time together.

Sessions run:

Mondays 9:00–3:00
Tuesdays 12:30–3:00

The group is small and calm, with space for children to settle, make, play and belong.

We have a few spaces left for the Summer Term

A lovely last week of term at Wool & Willow 🌿

We finished our sewing projects, enjoyed painting, created modelling inspired by our story, baked bread, and spent time with the animals.

A gentle, creative rhythm for children in the early primary years — with space to make, imagine, play and grow at their own pace.
