This week I say goodbye to one of my very first Curious Sprouts as she heads off to preschool 🥹💛

Some little ones hold an extra special bit of nostalgia because they’ve been here since the early days and have grown up alongside my youngest.

But it can’t really be a proper goodbye. The friendships she and the others her age have built with my little boy are definitely here to stay, and I know there’ll be lots of play dates and visits to come 🌱💛

Continuing on with our ice theme - this time the children had the task of rescuing dinosaurs, dinosaur skeletons and fossils from blocks of ice. After playing around with the paints again, we discussed how we could make the ice melt faster. The sun was hit and miss this morning so we had to think outside the box - and warm water was suggested! Alongside carefully throwing the ice onto the patio to see if it broke up!

So much learning in a simple task like this 😊

Today, alongside Little Ducklings Day Care, we celebrated the culture of Barbados to recognise the heritage of one of our mindees. 🇧🇧

We started by colouring the Barbadian flag before exploring a seaside-themed tuff tray, inspired by the island’s beautiful beaches. At lunchtime we all enjoyed a traditional Barbadian meal - macaroni pie - which went down really well!

The children also watched clips from the vibrant Crop Over Festival, talking about the colourful costumes, music and celebrations. They then loved decorating their own festival people using feathers, sparkles and lots of bright colours.

Exploring different cultures through play, creativity and food is such a lovely way to help children learn about the world around them while celebrating what makes each of us unique. ❤️

We had such a lovely trip to Billy Bob’s Play Barn and Diner with Amy from Little Ducklings Day Care, plus the added bonus of one of my term-time children joining us with her parents! It’s so lovely that we have the kind of relationship where we can meet up and enjoy time together outside of a working environment too.

The children had a lovely long play in the barn, swinging on ropes, going down the slides and exploring all the different areas. The younger ones especially enjoyed the sensory experience of all the fresh straw.

We then had lunch, with ice cream of course, before finishing with a play in the outdoor park.
