Fresh Silhouette Dance Training

Fresh Silhouette Dance Training Structured adult ballet & tap training in Kirkcaldy. Build technique, strength, balance, coordination & confidence in a supportive environment.

MRB DANCE build confidence, skills and friendships through the power of dance. I offer ballet and tap classes to children aged 3 years and upwards and adult tap classes. These classes not only develop physical skills and health, but also encourages social, emotional, cognitive and creative development. When I started MRB Dance in December 2009 I made the decision to be different from all the other

dance schools, by not putting the dancers through graded exams. I discovered very early on during my further education in dance, that all the exams I did and all the grades I achieved from those exams meant absolutely nothing in any audition I did. All that mattered was how I performed on that day in the audition. That is why at MRB Dance I focus on the dancers developing their technique in an enjoyable way, rather than the very regimented and strict way other dance schools do and we work towards performing shows annually instead of doing exams.

“I’d love to try ballet… but I’m not flexible enough.” 🩰

This is something I hear quite often from adults thinking about starting ballet.

But you don’t need to be flexible to start.

Flexibility is something we work on, not something you need to arrive with.

The same goes for balance, strength, coordination and turnout. You aren't expected to already have all of those things before walking into your first class, developing them is part of the training.

And no, you don’t need to be able to touch your toes, get your leg up by your ear or do the splits!

Adult Ballet at Fresh Silhouette is about gradually developing your technique and understanding how your own body moves.

Some things will come more easily than others. Some will take time. That's completely normal.

So if you've ever looked at a ballet class and thought “I'd love to do that, but I'm nowhere near flexible enough”…

You don't need to get flexible first.

You just need to start. 🩰

Learn. Improve. Enjoy.

If you're new here, welcome to Fresh Silhouette Dance Training

There have been quite a few new faces following the page recently, so I thought it was a good time to introduce Fresh Silhouette properly.

I’ve been teaching dance for 28 years, and these days my focus is entirely on adult dance training.

I currently teach Adult Ballet and Adult Tap in Kirkcaldy, with dancers ranging from complete beginners to those who have danced before and want to get back to it.

The classes are relaxed and friendly, but there is still plenty of proper training involved. We work on technique, strength, balance, coordination, flexibility and musicality, with exercises building progressively.

You might also spot resistance bands, yoga blocks and small exercise balls appearing in class. I like to use different training tools to help dancers understand and develop the strength and control behind the movements we're working on.

There are no exams, no competitions and no pressure to be perfect.

Just the opportunity to learn, improve and enjoy dancing.

So whether you've danced for years, haven't danced since you were younger, or have always wanted to try but never quite had the confidence, you're very welcome here.

And if you've recently started following Fresh Silhouette, I'd love to know what brought you here.

Are you looking for Adult Ballet or Tap, or is there another type of adult dance or movement class you'd love to see locally in the future?

I'd be really interested to hear what you'd choose. 🩰👞

"I'm often asked what an Adult Ballet or Adult Tap class at Fresh Silhouette Dance Training is actually like."

The answer is... probably not what most people expect!

We don't spend the whole class trying to remember a long routine, and there's no pressure to be perfect.

Instead, each class is designed to help you improve a little every week. We focus on technique, balance, coordination and confidence through carefully structured exercises, building things up step by step.
Some people join because they danced years ago and miss it. Others have never danced before but have always wanted to give it a go.

Whatever your reason, my aim is for you to leave each class feeling like you've achieved something and looking forward to coming back the following week.

That's what Fresh Silhouette Dance Training is all about.

Hi everyone, thought I'd reintroduce myself.

I'm Michelle, the owner of Fresh Silhouette Dance Training here in Kirkcaldy.

Dance has been a huge part of my life since I was 3 years old. I started helping with classes when I was just 12, eventually took over the dance school I grew up in, and have now been teaching for over 28 years.

Over the years I've taught all ages, from young children right through to adults, including college students. But a few years ago I realised my heart was pulling me in a different direction. I wanted to create something that was just for adults.

That's how Fresh Silhouette Dance Training came about.

I wanted to create a place where adults could enjoy learning to dance without feeling judged or worrying they weren't good enough. Somewhere you can come exactly as you are, challenge yourself, build confidence, improve your technique and leave feeling just that little bit stronger than when you arrived.

I know it can feel daunting walking into a dance class for the first time, especially if it's been years since you last danced (or you've never danced at all!), but everyone starts somewhere. My classes are friendly, supportive and taught step by step, so you can learn at your own pace.

I currently teach Adult Ballet and Adult Tap in Kirkcaldy.

We're enjoying our summer break just now, but classes start back on Tuesday 4th August, so it's the perfect time for anyone who's been thinking about giving dance a try.

If you'd like to find out a little more, you can visit www.freshsilhouette.co.uk

Thanks for reading, and hopefully I'll meet some of you soon.

Curious but nervous?

Book a trial class and come see what it's all about.

No pressure. No auditions. No expectations.

Just learning.

One of the most common things I hear is:

"I'm probably too old to start."

The adults in my classes range from teenagers through to people in their 60s.

Learning doesn't stop because we get older.

One of the biggest fears people have before attending is:

"What if everyone else knows what they're doing?"

The truth is everyone starts somewhere.

Classes are designed to build skills progressively and at a pace that allows people to develop confidence over time.

Not everyone enjoys the gym.

Some people would rather learn a skill while improving fitness, balance and coordination.

Dance gives you movement with purpose.

You're not just exercising.

You're learning.
