Thank you both so much for your kind words and for choosing to learn these potentially life-saving skills. It truly means the world to us! 💚 👶

Watching a video tutorial or 30-second reel demonstrating how to perform chest thrusts on a choking baby is not going to give you the same learning experience as watching and practising the technique in person.

When you take an in-person first aid class with Mini First Aid, you'll see our expert trainers demonstrate the techniques in front of you on life-sized baby and child mannequins.

You'll get hands-on with the manikins yourself, experiencing exactly where to position your hands and fingers, feel how deeply to properly compress during CPR and get immediate feedback on how you are managing, helping you make adjustments and get it right.

You'll have time with our expert trainer to ask questions and practise until the techniques become second nature.

And you don't get that from a minute-long video or TV programme! 😉

Come and learn with us, it's two hours of your time and costs from just £30 per person to really learn vital first aid techniques that could just save your child's life.

Head to the classes tab on our website to find a class in Fife or Forth Valley.

Thank you so much to Christie for arranging two Baby & Child First Aid classes over the past two days. We’ve had a blast! 🙌

30 people attended, from those waiting on imminent arrivals, to families with newborns, mums with babies embarking on their weaning journey, and some very proud grandparents too. 💚

Families in the community had their sessions subsidised by the The Rotary Club of Buckhaven & Methil and we’re incredibly grateful to them for helping ensure these families had the opportunity to learn life-saving skills and build their confidence.

Thank you! 💚

☕️ If a hot drink or liquid spill happens anywhere near your child’s nappy, remove it immediately. You can see here how the temperature is retained inside the nappy as the hot water is absorbed.

👶🏼 Nappies are designed to retain liquid so in a hot drink or water spill, all of that hot liquid is being held directly against your little one’s skin which is why it’s important to remove it as quickly as possible.

⭐️ The exception to this is if the material is stuck to burnt skin, do not attempt to peel or remove.

❤️‍🩹 Burns or scalds on the ge****ls can be severe and may warrant further medical treatment.

💚 Our two-hour baby and child first aid classes for parents takes you through exactly what to do if your child receives a burn, what steps you should take, how to treat it and when you should seek further medical assessment.

This August, as part of our Burns Awareness, do something for you and your baby, book a first aid class!

Classes are just £30 per person, check our website to find details of classes near you.

Small children are explorative and often lack a sense of danger, which means they can be prone to bumping their heads. Minor head bumps can often be treated at home with lots of TLC, but some bumps can be serious in little ones.

Here are some tips on how to treat a head bump at home and how to spot if a head bump is something more serious.

💚 A LITTLE REMINDER ABOUT OUR AUGUST FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

This August, Mini First Aid Fife and Forth Valley is proud to be supporting the incredible Children's Burns Trust as they celebrate 25 years of educating families, preventing life-changing burn injuries and supporting children and their families.

The Mini First Aid network is taking on a 150-mile walking challenge throughout August – walking the equivalent distance between Mini First Aid HQ and the Children’s Burns Trust HQ! 💚

So far in August I have walked 225.6 thousand steps! 😍 With an average of 14 thousand steps per day, my little feet are doing me proud!

Every mile walked is helping us raise awareness of burns prevention, life-saving first aid and the incredible work of the Children’s Burns Trust.

Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing:
🔥 Burns prevention tips
🩹 First aid advice
🚶 Updates from our 150-mile challenge
💚 Ways you can support and donate

Want to help us? You can donate online or at any of our classes, with every penny going directly to the Children’s Burns Trust.

If you’d like to support our fundraising, you can donate here 👇

Every donation, share, class booking and conversation helps us spread these important safety messages.

Together, we can help prevent serious burns and give families the confidence to know what to do when an accident happens. 💚

What a busy end to the summer holidays! ☀️

We’ve had a brilliant time delivering our 2-hour Baby & Child First Aid classes in Polmont at Polmont Community Hub, St Andrews, Menstrie at the Our Dumyat Centre, and a lovely private class with Home-Start in Glenrothes.

That’s another little army of parents-to-be, new mums and dads, grandparents, and people who work and volunteer supporting local families now up to date with their first-aid skills. 💪❤️

We’ve also delivered Blended Paediatric First Aid and Emergency Paediatric First Aid workplace courses at The Dunblane Centre, where childminders registered with the Scottish Childminding Association worked their socks off, building and demonstrating the confidence and competence needed to help an injured or unwell baby or child in their care.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us! It’s been brilliant meeting you all, sharing our knowledge and helping you feel more prepared to respond when it matters most.

What a lovely way to wrap up our summer holidays! 🌟

184 children and young people needed specialist burn care from BBQ injuries in 2025.

For parents, that’s a powerful reminder that something as simple as a garden BBQ can quickly become dangerous, especially with curious little ones nearby.

According to the London Fire Brigade, BBQs should always be used outdoors, placed on flat ground, and kept well away from fences, sheds, and anything that can catch fire. But just as importantly for families is to create a clear “no-go zone” around the BBQ so children can’t wander too close.

Never leave a BBQ unattended, even for a moment. Avoid using petrol or other accelerants, and once you’re finished, make sure it’s completely cooled before moving or disposing of it.

Little hands, fast feet, and open flames do not mix! With a few simple precautions, your BBQ can stay a safe and fun part of summer.

Enjoy a happy and injury-free sunny few days 💚

☀️ Today feels like the perfect day to talk about sun safety.

With the current heatwave and a solar eclipse taking place today, lots of us will be spending more time outdoors. It’s a good reminder that sunburn is a burn - and one we can help prevent.

Swipe through our carousel for some simple ways to keep little ones safe in the sun ☀️ 💚

As part of our August campaign supporting the Children’s Burns Trust, we’re sharing burns awareness messages throughout the month - because preventing a burn is always better than treating one.

Stay safe, stay sun smart and enjoy the sunshine! 💚
