It’s less than 8 weeks until the first Maths exam - remember; You’ve got this 💪
Here are some quick exam wellbeing tips to help you stay on track:
📚 Keep it balanced – Study in chunks and take proper breaks. Your brain needs rest to retain all your revision. Some learners really enjoy the Pomodoro technique (see image)
😴 Sleep matters – Aim for 7–9 hours. Late-night cramming means you’re less focused the next day.
🥗 Fuel your body – Eat regular meals and stay hydrated. Your brain needs energy and hydration to work at its best.
🚶♂️ Get moving – a short walk or stretch can reduce stress and boost concentration. It’s also great for releasing endorphins.
🧠 Don’t compare yourself to others– Everyone revises differently. Focus on your progress, not others.
💬 Talk it out – Feeling overwhelmed? Chat with a friend, parent, responsible adult or teacher.

🌍✨ Ever wonder why it gets dark so early in winter (especially in the UK)?
It’s all because Earth is tilted! In winter, due to the Earth’s tilt, the UK leans away from the Sun, so the Sun takes a shorter path across the sky — rising late, setting early, and giving us those long, dark evenings.
In summer, we lean towards the Sun, so the days are long and bright 🌞

Another great tutoring week!
For our year 6 learner, we developed our percentages skills as well as rounding. For someone who doesn’t feel confident with decimals, they were amazing at rounding to decimals places! What a superstar 🌟
One of our year 11 learners looked at rounding and error intervals, after a recap of application questions with angles to secure learning from last week. Brilliant skills shown and great understanding of skills.

A brilliant week with new learners!
We kicked off with “aiming for grade X” work, and many are already smashing targets 🎯. What stood out most? It’s not knowledge that holds learners back, but confidence.
So often I hear:
❌ “I don’t know this” “I can’t do this”
But once confidence grows, those turn into:
✅ “I get this now” “I can do this!”
Tutoring isn’t just about teaching content and exam skills, it’s also about instilling confidence in learners to help them reach their full potential.

It’s back to school week! ✏️
Good luck to all my previous learners as they progress onto their college courses - can’t wait to see your next successes!
There is limited availability for those wanting to hit the ground running this September with Maths and Science tuition. Drop me a message for more information 📧

Quieter week but love that students are taking their studies seriously, even in the summer holidays! ☀️
This week, we covered Pythagoras’ theorem and trigonometry - some of the trickiest topics in the foundation paper! 🧠 We looked at written questions with no diagram to help students develop their visualisation skills. 🤔
There is still some availability for September, if you are interested, please drop me a message!

✨ A-Level Results Day is here! ✨
Whether today brings happy tears, unexpected turns, or a bit of both - remember this: your results don't define your potential.
To everyone celebrating - well done for your hard work! 👏🏻
To those feeling unsure - this is just the start of your journey, and there are always paths forward. 🚀
Officially one week until GCSE results day!

BEARDED DRAGONS & GCSE BIOLOGY? YES PLEASE! 🧬
Meet my bearded dragons, Neil and Trev!
These amazing reptiles are ectothermic (also known as cold-blooded), which means they rely on external heat sources (like basking under a lamp or the Aussie sun) to regulate their body temperature.
So how do they link to GCSE Biology
✅ Thermoregulation – No sweat glands? No problem. Bearded dragons move between warm and cool spots to maintain an optimum temperature. This helps them save energy and ensures their enzymes are able to work.
✅ Adaptation and competition– Their spiky “beard” flares up and turns black to scare off predators and other bearded dragons.
✅ Metabolism – Their digestion speeds up in heat and slows down when it’s cool. This is why I see my boys being lazy in the cold.
It’s things like this that show us science is all around us. 🧪🦎💡

🎉 Weekly Wins at LabTutoring! 🎉
Another week of amazing progress made by learners🙌
📐 One student crushed trigonometry, learning and using SOHCAHTOA within 20 minutes like a pro! So proud of their focus and growth. 🔄✨
🧮 Meanwhile, another student made amazing progress with core maths skills including negative numbers, which can cause a lot of issues for many learners— building a solid understanding of how numbers behave on the number line and gaining confidence in every step! 💡📈

What a session!
This week, one of my amazing learning learners has made huge progress in algebra, particularly in simplifying expressions, collecting like terms, and solving one-step equations.
They've been working consistently on core skills such as:
J Combining terms like 3a + 2a - a Simplifying perimeter expressions
J Solving equations like x + 3 = 7
It's been great to see their growing confidence and ability within the session.
