On Thursday, Humber STEM was lucky enough to be invited to The Deep for the Humber Hydrogen event — and a great opportunity to meet more fantastic people who are passionate about the future of our region.
The Humber has all the ingredients to become a national and international leader in hydrogen: the geography, the industrial base, the largest port complex in the country, a skilled workforce, world-class businesses and, most importantly, people with ambition.
The night was all about the energy, industry, education, skills, investment and opportunity — needed for generational change allowing people across the Humber to see a future here and build their careers.
A keynote for education from the evening was - you can’t aspire to opportunities you can’t see.
That gives all of us a responsibility to grow the visibility of what is happening across our region. We need to build the pipeline — of infrastructure, investment, businesses, and yes, talent.
The Humber is not the end of the line. It is a gateway to Europe.

A huge thank you to Smith+Nephew for continuing to support Humber STEM and inspire the next generation.

Their interactive workshops give students a brilliant insight into how science, technology and innovation are used in healthcare, while opening their eyes to the wide range of careers available within the industry.

It’s always fantastic to see students getting involved, asking questions and learning directly from people working in STEM.

Watch the video to hear what the students had to say about their experience!

Why wait until 14? Andy Burnham

If we want to inspire the next generation into careers in STEM and industry, we need to start earlier.

Let’s bring careers, industry and STEM into our primary settings — making the world of work visible, exciting and accessible from the very beginning.

That’s exactly what Humber STEM is all about!

Really encouraging to see this thinking at the forefront of plans for education.

An exciting step forward for Humber STEM’s Impossible Classroom programme!

Over the last week, I have had fantastic opportunities to discuss with Dragos Visan, at ClassVR by Avantis , as to how ClassVR by Avantis will form part of Humber STEM’s exciting Impossible Classroom Project.

We’re continuing to develop this collaborative programme with schools, industry and technology partners, exploring how future and emerging technologies can have a positive impact on the delivery of teaching and learning across the Humber region.

There are still two schools remaining to take up the final spaces in this exciting programme. We’d love to hear from schools who are interested in exploring how innovative technology can enhance learning and create new opportunities for their pupils.

A huge thank you to Dragos Visan, Danny Eldridge and the Class VR team for such a fantastic conversation and for sharing your expertise and vision.

We’re really looking forward to working closely together over the coming years and seeing the impact this collaboration can have across our schools.

Did you know?

Over the past 5 years, Humber STEM has reached and inspired around 5,000 pupils through our annual STEM events alone!

Our events bring education and industry together, giving children the opportunity to take part in exciting, hands-on activities linked to real careers and local industries.

For businesses, it’s a chance to share their expertise, showcase the opportunities within their industry and inspire the next generation.

Real employers. Real experiences. Real inspiration.

Here's a flashback to one of our earlier events.
