🍓🎾 Game, set and match for our first ever Wimbledon Afternoon! 🎾🍓
It was a pleasure to welcome the Year 5 cohort from Kirk Ella St Andrew's Primary School to Tranby on Thursday for a fantastic afternoon of Wimbledon-themed activities.
Planned by Mr Henderson, Head of Boys' PE, and delivered with all the precision of a Nadal serve by our outstanding PE team, this community outreach afternoon gave pupils the opportunity to experience sport !
Our visitors particularly enjoyed experiencing the professional-grade sporting facilities that our own Prep pupils are fortunate to use as part of their regular PE provision, expertly guided by our specialist staff.
Of course, no Wimbledon experience would be complete without fresh strawberries and cream, beautifully prepared by Mr Rosser and the catering team.
The visiting pupils left with smiles, goodie bags and an invitation to our Open Event on Saturday 26 September. If you would like to join us for the event, just click the link: https://www.tranby.org.uk/news-events/events/details/whole-school-open-event
A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the afternoon such a success.

🎺 What an achievement! Huge congratulations to Year 9 pupil Esme, who has secured a place in the North of England Youth Brass Band – an elite ensemble featuring some of the most talented young brass musicians from across the North of England and the Midlands.
Having started trumpet lessons at Tranby in Year 5, Esme now plays first cornet with the City of Hull Youth Band and will rehearse at the home of the world-famous Grimethorpe Colliery Band.
Ever modest, Esme is quick to credit those who have supported her along the way, thanking Mr Oglesby, Mrs Cook and everyone involved with City of Hull Youth Band. We are incredibly proud of all she has achieved and can't wait to see where her musical journey takes her next. 🎶✨

Just before half term, our Year 9 pupils were putting the icing on the cake of what turned out to be a memorable weekend for Hull!
During a Food & Nutrition workshop with Judy Newlove from Sugar ‘n’ Spice, pupils created sponge cakes complete with sugar paste coverings and handcrafted icing decorations.
Their fast-food-themed designs proved particularly fitting, as Hull City supporters across the city celebrated promotion with plenty of burgers, hot dogs and other matchday favourites! 🍔🍟

We are very excited to announce that the Tranby Art Exhibition is officially open during weekday afternoons from 14:30.
Does your child have the talent to reach the viral success of Eleanor Tomlinson?
Or will they follow in the footsteps of Max, who achieved an A* in Art last year, securing himself a place at the renowned University of the Arts, London to study Fashion Design?
Come and see for yourself the astounding works our Art pupils produce. Because current GCSE and A Level work is undergoing moderation, we cannot share images, so here are some photos from last year’s candidates to give you an idea of the quality and originality of the work produced.
It is our pleasure to open the doors to all pupils - whether considering GCSE/A-Level Art or not – and their parents/guardians.
The Art provision at Tranby is absolutely exceptional, and we would love you to immerse yourself in it.
You may sign in from 14:30 – 16:15 at the main Reception and stay as long as you wish.

Physics… but bring Eminem and Rihanna 🎵⚡
Last week, our Year 10 Physics pupils became speaker engineers in Mr McIntosh’s lesson!
Using copper wire, magnets, vibrations and a homemade paper speaker, pupils discovered how sound is created through movement and magnetic forces. Music was played from a phone through the circuit, but you could only hear it when the magnet was placed near the paper cone… suddenly bringing the music to life! 🎧🧲
A brilliant hands-on lesson showing physics in action and proving science lessons can have a soundtrack too 👏
