Amazing news!

Hull Maritime Museum will reopen to the public on Saturday 8 August 2026.

The museum has undergone a landmark £20.4m transformation that has doubled its public space allowing us to put 50% more objects from the collection on display, that’s around 1,300 objects.

Alongside the permanent galleries, a new community exhibition space will celebrate the region’s maritime heritage and a new environmentally controlled gallery will also enable us to host major loans and touring exhibitions.

The museum will be open, Monday – Saturday, 10am – 4.30pm, Sunday, 11am – 4pm and entry will be free. Visitors will be able to book free tickets in advance of their visit with walk-up entry also available daily. Further information about tickets will be released soon at www.HullMaritimeMuseum.co.uk

A few thoughts after yesterday’s Together in Nature group ….

Have you ever noticed how much pressure there is to always be doing?

Many parents tell us they feel guilty when their little ones are sleeping, at nursery, or spending time with other caregivers. Instead of resting, there’s often a feeling that every spare moment should be productive.

At our groups, we sometimes find that having permission to simply be can feel unfamiliar, even uncomfortable at first. In a world that celebrates constant busyness, slowing down can feel like something we need to justify.

But taking time for yourself isn’t a luxury—it’s an important part of caring for your physical and mental wellbeing.

At Phoenix Families CIC’s Together in Nature sessions, we create a gentle, supportive space where you can slow down, connect with nature, and reconnect with yourself. No expectations, no pressure—just time to breathe, notice, and be present.

✨ Sometimes the most important thing you can do is pause. And when you do, you may find that you return to yourself feeling calmer, stronger, and more able to enjoy the moments that matter most. 💚

How has it already been a week since we attended the HEY Smile Charity Awards evening? ✨(be honest - You didn’t recognise us without our purple did you ??!!😂💜)

What an incredible night it was — and such a privilege to celebrate alongside so many amazing organisations doing such important work across our city. 💛

To make the week even more special, we welcomed the Little Fishes group to the museum on Friday. The sun was shining, families were connecting, relaxing, and enjoying some lovely time together. ☀️

We don’t have a group session tomorrow, but we’ll be back next week — dates will be posted shortly!

In the meantime, don’t forget the museums are open and free to visit, so make the most of the sunshine and we’ll see you all next Friday! 😊
