It was a little soggy outside today, so we brought Together in Nature indoors, but kept the door open for families to wander, explore and enjoy the outdoors whenever they fancied.

What I loved most today wasn’t an activity or anything we’d set up. It was watching the connections between families.

Parents and carers naturally looking out for each other’s little ones. Someone keeping an eye while another popped to the loo, took a breather or was busy with another child.

No fuss, no expectations. Just people feeling comfortable enough to ask for a hand and others happy to help.

And that’s what Together in Nature is really about. 💚

Creating a space where relationships grow, trust develops and families feel part of a community. Somewhere you don’t have to do everything on your own.

Connection. Compassion. Community. 🌿

Thankyou to the families who took part in this recording with BBC Humberside, this has been so lovely to listen to. Not going to lie, we shed a tear, it always fills our hearts to hear how special our 'Together in Nature' group is to you all.

Today was a busy one at Together in Nature 🌳💜

We welcomed families who have been coming to us for years, families joining us for the very first time, and familiar faces who popped in to say hello as they were passing.

The garden was buzzing with conversation, children exploring, people connecting and simply spending time together — exactly what Together in Nature is all about. 💜

We also had a special visit from Sally at BBC Radio Humberside, who came along to find out more about our sessions and why creating spaces like this for parents, carers and young children matters.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to chat with Sally and share their experiences. We really appreciate you helping us tell the story of Together in Nature — and the wonderful community that has grown around it. 🌿

Well towards the end of today’s session, the topic of “what things have you heard yourself say that you’d never have said before you were a parent?” …. Top contenders included;

‘We don’t eat poo’ (said in a calm
Nurturing voice 😂)
“Bring the toilet seat back”
“No… poo doesn’t go down the sink” …..

Clearly a theme !

🌿 HELP US START OUR TOGETHER IN NATURE WINTER CLOTHING LIBRARY! 🌧️🥾🍂

We believe that being outdoors and connecting with nature can support the wellbeing of both little ones and their grown-ups — and we want to help families enjoy those benefits right through the seasons.

As the weather begins to change, we know that having the right clothing can sometimes be a barrier to getting outside. So, we’re hoping to create a small Winter Clothing Library as part of our free Together in Nature sessions.

The idea is simple: families attending the group will be able to borrow what they need, use it and return it when it’s no longer needed, helping good-quality clothing to be shared and reused within our community.

💜 To get us started, we’re looking for donations of:
• Baby and young children’s wellies
• Waterproof all-in-ones
• Waterproof coats and trousers

We’re looking for items that are clean, in good condition and ready for another little adventurer to enjoy.

Our hope is that a bit of rain, mud or colder weather doesn’t have to mean staying indoors. 🌧️🌳

Because nature isn’t just for sunny days.

If you have something your little one has outgrown that you’d be happy to donate, please get in touch or bring it along to a Together in Nature session.

🌻 A space to just be

Sometimes, amongst everything else, we all need a little space to breathe …

Together in Nature is our free, nature-based group created especially to support the mental health and wellbeing of parents and carers with babies and young children.

We know that becoming a parent, or welcoming another little person into your family, can bring huge changes. It can be wonderful, but it can also feel overwhelming, lonely, exhausting or simply a lot.

Together in Nature is a place to slow down, reconnect and take some time for you. There’s no expectation to join in, no judgement and no pressure to be anything other than where you are that day.

🌿 Come when you can and leave when you need to
☕ Refreshments are provided
💜 Completely free
🌳 A relaxed, supportive space in nature
👶 Babies and young children are very welcome

Because sometimes we all need somewhere safe to stand, breathe and grow in our own way. 🌻…. Just like this sunflower that surprised us this week !

Our sessions are able to remain free thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund and Health Stars, with the continued support of Hull Museums.
You’ll find us in the museum garden 10-11.30 on Friday (or indoors if raining !)
