π A little reminder that progress takes patience, consistency and trust. π¬
When this little one first started swimming with Little Dolphins at just 5 weeks old, it was clear that the water wasnβt his favourite place to be!
Dad was absolutely amazing with him, continuing to bring him each week because he knew how important swimming was as a life skill β something he and Mum had always discussed and wanted for their children.
Every week, Mum would ask, βHow did he get on today?β and Dadβs reply was always the same: βHe cried!β π₯Ή
But they didnβt give up! They continued to show up, offering reassurance, patience and consistency. Last term, we started to see a change, with a few little smiles appearing and signs that he was beginning to enjoy his time in the water. π¦
With the arrival of their new baby and the logistics of family life, Mum and Dad decided to book a group lesson at Hurcott Spa Pool.
Last week was a little different, as baby had recently had his injections and didnβt go into the pool. Instead, I had the pleasure of taking the eldest while Mum, Dad and his little brother watched from the side.
And what a difference! β€οΈ
He came straight to me and absolutely loved every minute of his lesson! Seeing him so happy, confident and enjoying the water was just wonderful.
Mum and Dad were over the moon, and rightly so. They had continued through the tears, the challenging weeks and the ups and downs, trusting the process and giving him the time he needed.
This is why we never rush progress. Every child is different, and confidence develops in its own time. Sometimes, the biggest achievements come from simply showing up, being patient and never giving up.
To Mum and Dad β well done for sticking with it. You should be so proud! And to our little swimmer, look at you go! π¬π
