Last week on our Instagram Stories, we took you on a little tour of Forest Class here at Kettleshulme St James Primary School! 🌿✨

Forest Class is home to our EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 children. We spent our first few days helping our new Reception children settle in, exploring the classroom together and introducing them to all the different areas they can enjoy throughout the day.

A big focus for us has also been making new friendships and growing together as a class. Our Year 1 and Year 2 children have been wonderful at helping our new Reception children find their feet, showing them around, playing alongside them and helping them feel part of our Forest Class family.

Last year, Forest Class fell in love with the beautiful story Pip and Egg by Alex Latimer. 🐦🥚🌱 It is a lovely story about friendship, growing and changing, and how special friendships can continue even when things around us change. The children loved the story so much that they created our huge Pip and Egg display! The children made a huge part of the display, from the beautiful hand drawn flowers to their own pictures of Pip and Egg showing their favourite parts of the story. 🌸🎨 Our now Year 1 and Year 2 children were so proud to show the display to our new Reception children and share the story of Pip and Egg with them. It was the perfect way to begin another year of growing, learning and making memories together. 🌱💛

We’re now settled in, back in the flow of learning and ready for everything the new school year has in store!

Cake bakers needed! 🍰

This Saturday our PTFA are hosting the Kettleshulme Fell Race, with up to 200 runners descending on the village hall afterwards for tea, cake and raffle tickets — all raising vital funds for our little school.

With school budgets tighter than ever, this event has been our biggest fundraiser for the past two years, bringing in donations from people beyond the school community.

To make the most of this fantastic opportunity, we really need more cake donations!

If you can help, simply send a cake into school this Friday (17th) and we’ll sell it to hungry runners on Saturday.

Every cake makes a difference — thank you so much for your support 🙏

Thackeray would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter! 🐣 🐰

He struggled a little with the ears as the Scottish Isles wind was adding to the challenge but he wants you all to know that he is loving his first campervan holiday and he has discovered that he is very fond of beaches!

He can't wait to see you all soon. 🐾
