The best classrooms are outdoors! Loving keeping cool at Hawthorn this morning! ☀️💦

KS1 have been exploring capacity through fun water tray activities, while our EYFS children have been developing their paddling and fine motor skills with water pistols and rubber ducks. Inside, it was time to make sandwiches for The Lighthouse Keeper!

We're making the most of the beautiful weather and turning every opportunity into a chance to learn, play and grow! 🌞🦆💙

🌍⚽ World Cup fever continues at Hawthorn! ⚽🌍

Our children have had another fantastic day researching and exploring their next countries. We've had:

💃 Flamenco dancing in Silver Birches
🫖 A traditional English tea party in Willows
🎵 Didgeridoos in Reception
🫎 And a herd of Canadian moose rampaging around Elm whilst eating traditional maple cookies!

Meanwhile, Ash Class took a trip to the movie theatres of Hollywood...complete with popcorn and Bay completed some Algerian cave paintings🌎✨

A huge thank you to our amazing teachers for throwing themselves into these activities and making the experiences so memorable for the children. ❤️

🌍⚽ Our Hawthorn World Cup Project is well underway, and what an amazing journey around the world it is! 🌎✨

The children are having a fantastic time learning about different countries and cultures - they've been practising traditional dances from Czechia and Turkey, creating beautiful Portuguese-inspired tile artwork and discovering fascinating facts about the famous blue-footed bo***es found in Ecuador! 🕺🎨🦜We even had a visit from Ronaldo!!

It's wonderful to see the children so engaged, curious and enthusiastic! 🌟

📏🌿 Active learning in Year 1 today! 🌿📏
Our Year 1 children had great fun exploring height and length in maths. They worked together to order themselves from shortest to tallest before comparing and sorting sticks by their lengths. 🌳
It was wonderful to see the children using practical activities to develop their understanding, problem-solving skills and mathematical vocabulary. Learning is always more memorable when you can get up, move around and investigate! 😊
