New class now available to book via the website. Sunday 20th September from 10:30am to 1:30pm (approx finish). Looking forward to painting this lovely scene again, it’s still my personal favourite watercolour landscape and it’s suprisingly beginner friendly too! Marina’s Bakery

One Sunday a month we have our journal sessions. we meet to chat, enjoy a cup of tea and embroider a new page to add to our journals.

This month’s page is “Marina’s Bakery.”

Marina is a student in our class, a talented baker, and we are so lucky to enjoy her delicious bakes each month. I thought, what better way to remember all those wonderful treats than to create a little bakery of our own in our journal..”Marina’s Bakery.”

I always encourage my art students to keep a sketchbook, but if i’m honest, I had lost the motivation to paint in mine and had not done anything for months. However, I went camping at the weekend and took pencils for my kids, and oil pastels for myself. I managed to do a couple of quick sketches in both mediums. Plenty of artistic license taken as you can see from the reference photo, but I really enjoyed filling up another two pages in my sketchbook. I’ve included the reference photo incase anyone fancies a go at this too! I’ll probably paint this on a canvas with oils at some point.

This week I was able to deliver a watercolour class to residents at The Kenward Trust. We covered a variety of techniques from wet in wet washes, glazing, creating loose landscapes, sky effects and florals. It was a great session with lots of creative people who really enjoy the mindful benefits of art. The Kenward Trust is a great organisation, one I had previously not known much about, but they offer such an important and valuable service for people struggling with addiction in its different forms. Our watercolour florals greeting cards class is coming up next Friday 21st August. I’ll be showing you how to paint a variety of pretty freehand designs straight onto cards. This class will not only teach you new skills but will also give you the opportunity to build up a little collection of hand painted cards and envelopes, ready to gift for any occasion. We are so lucky to have a very friendly and welcoming village pub that happens to be directly next door to the art studio. Tonight’s Sip n Paint at The Five Bells Halling was brilliant- a relaxed atmosphere with a lovely group of ladies. Thanks to all who came and well done on your brilliant paintings! Thanks to The Five Bells Halling for having us once again 🥂

Very proud of these girls for their efforts this week! They spent 4 long days with me in the studio working on these big paintings. Each one took a lot of effort and perseverance, and I think you can tell how much work went into them from looking at the amazing final results. I love how different each one is; and each features elements of (very fiddly) gold leaf- a nod to Gustav Klimt who was our inspiration for this workshop. 👏
