Welcome to our Preschool Room! Our three rooms are structured to represent a classroom feel in this final year of nursery accommodating for up to 40 children.

“Children are gaining the skills they need to help prepare them for their future learning, including their eventual move onto school” (Wren Ofsted report, 2023)

Preschool children benefit from the largest of our garden areas to the front of the nursery, shared with Juniors. Staff encourage smaller groups to take calculated risks on outdoor equipment and become budding scientists as they grow their own vegetables and plants.

The three rooms are set up to provide interesting and challenging experiences that meet the needs of all children. We ensure the environments meet all short and long-term planning, supporting and enhancing children’s learning and development holistically through play-based activities. We draw on children’s needs and interests to inform future planning, activities and resources whether adult-led or child-initiated, both indoors and outdoors.

The curriculum prepares children for school; we thrive to ensure children are confident and independent and ready for their next big adventure. Creative opportunities are extended; the introduction of Jolly Phonics supports the teaching at school and independently, children continue to investigate the world for their own moments of awe and wonder. They will be able to take care of their own personal needs, and begin to understand the importance of health and well-being and the things that take place in society and within our homes to support this.

Welcome to our Preschool Junior!

Our Preschool Junior Room caters for newly turned 3 year olds as a period of transition before Preschool, we have lots of availability for funded and non funded 3 year olds!

Preschool Junior Room accommodates for 18 children, it has a shared large garden with Preschool, it has its own bathroom area with child sized toilets and sinks.

The Junior Room consists of a construction and small world area, cosy book corner, messy and creative area, role play home corner, discovery zone and maths area as well as access to a wide variety of resources, toys and activities that meet the needs of all children based on our bespoke curriculum.

As our curriculum continues to be sequenced and progressive, the resources in the Junior Room become more challenging and become slightly smaller as they continue to develop and build on their fine motor skills. There are more options for maths activities and further opportunities to explore numerals and letters. The home corner is more enhanced with more realistic resources with real life packaging/boxes (emptied) and children have further opportunities to explore enhanced mark making and creative resources, being able to self-access glue and paint and engage in junk modelling.

Welcome to our Baby Room!

Our Baby Room at Wren caters for children from 6 weeks to 2 years and we have lots of availability!

Baby Room is a large room that can accommodate for 24 children, it has it's own garden area, half sheltered for all weather use. It has a separate nappy changing/potty area, milk kitchen and cot room.

Our room consists of a construction area, cosy book corner, messy area, sensory area, role play home corner, soft play and a small world area as well as access to a wide variety of resources, toys and activities that meet the needs of all children based on our bespoke curriculum.

We have a sectioned area of the Baby Room for smaller babies with black and white toys and resources. Black and white resources/pictures are beneficial for babies to develop their focus and attention, develop their optic nerves and teach their eye muscles to coordinate with their brains. There is also opportunity for tummy time in this area and a small armchair for more intimate care routines such as bottles.
