Dear Parents and Carers,

Some of you may already have met Nicola, our new Safeguarding and Family Liaison Lead here at Sandgate.

As Nicola will be working throughout some of the summer holidays, she’d love the opportunity to get to know more of our families while providing a fun, relaxed space for children and parents to spend time together.

To help with this, she will be running Stay & Play sessions at school over the summer. These sessions are a great opportunity to meet other families, enjoy some playtime, and make the most of the school environment.

You can find all the details on the poster below ⬇️

With being such a book-loving class, it was only fitting that they ended the term with a trip to Kendal Library, followed by a special treat at McDonald's—shh... don't let the headteacher know! 🤫

After exploring the library and getting the chance to choose our favourite books, we went to McDonald's for lunch. We had the restaurant all to ourselves, making it a wonderfully calm, sensory-friendly experience.

It was the perfect way to celebrate a fantastic term together, filled with stories, smiles, and lots of happy memories!

Many of you may have seen the local project Izzy's Way on social media which is bringing light to the 'quiet discrimination' disabled people experience - more info in this BBC article here (https://tinyurl.com/2r49hr6m)

The first stage of the project is an anonymous survey about the experiences of any discrimination, exclusion, and/or ableist attitudes. The survey can be completed by those living with a disability, caring for someone with additional needs, or supporting a disabled family member.

Here's the survey: https://www.artibelleflorist.com/about-4

By sharing your experiences, you can help create greater understanding, inclusion, and positive change for disabled people and families locally.
