Big group abseil for these awesome folks. Had it booked for yonks and all the team arrived in time and although the quarry was slippy with the rain they had a blast and everyone achieved the abseil šŸ‘ A good fun group to celebrate Chloe’s hen night. Apparently there was a cars boot full of gin! šŸ˜³šŸ˜‚

Quite an eye opener yesterday - working with my group at Hodge on the top tier, we witnessed a large rockfall from the other side of the quarry. Hard to say but at least two tons of rock just slid away suddenly. There were people in the cave and they’d have been ok, but anyone who had of been underneath that on the huge slab where it crashed doesn’t bear thinking about. I have never seen this in the 30 years of visiting and using Hodge - BEWARE - This place like all quarries is a crumble zone/s waiting to happen. The weird thing for me is we were here yesterday with a large group the day before - Saturday - in heavy rain and wind and nothing. We were just to the left on the often used abseil line although it would have missed everybody would have been terrifying to say the least! Today still calm and no rain, and no youths chucking rocks into and down the quarry walls, this thing imploded! Although scary was good to see especially for the group as they were doing some Alpine training and this sort of thing, especially in the current climate is common place - But unusual in the Lake District. Be careful if using/venturing into here.

Caitlin wanting some scrambling and rock climbing instruction. So as the weather looked nicer the first day - we kicked it off with some climbing in Langdale - 3 multi pitches and popped over on way back down to do some single pitches climbing on the smaller Raven crag - Mamba & Baskerville. Lovely company and lots of skills boxes ā˜‘ļø

Good half day climbing down in Yorkshire. Routes from VS to E1 done - And a slab of cake to finish! Brilliant.

High up on the Buchaille - Doing some Alpine training - North buttress and then Curved Ridge in descent - An often crucial overlooked part when training for the Alps.

Two fantastic routes I’ve always wanted to climb. Seamstress and Seams the same VS/E1 in the Llanberis slate quarries. Both didn’t disappoint - The pro on the E1 albeit spaced was actually better than the VS where there were a few more suspect blocks for your gear to go behind. The quarries are always interesting to explore and look around.

Amazing how you forget the intricacies of a crag….when I was training a lot for the MIA back in 2009 I virtually lived in wales! Spent a lot of time at this crag Tremadog and what a crag it is. Ticked and re visited some classics as Lee had never been! 😳 Wanted to do a the Plumb but ran outta time as rained cleared by lunch time and so didn’t have a full day. Still we got 4 multis in and plenty of rock under our boots.

A little trip to wales kicking off with a repeat of the classic Main Wall. The word classic for rock climbs is used a lot - But this one truly is a classic! The end pitch - 1st pic this time on the 2nd - is the icing on the cake.

Out with Natalie - She was apprehensive and wanted to give grade 2/2+ a go. The crux on Pinnacle Ridge feels more like a mod rock climb and so as the aprehensión grew - getting to the crux - taking things steady, introducing a rope and a guiding hand made the experience more pleasant and easy. She was fine and loved the whole experience. It was interesting for her to see another ā€˜solo’ lady who had heard about this in Facebook, and waited for us to ask advice further up. After a chat she decided and wisely to turn around and maybe come back on another day. Better to be safe than sorry šŸ‘šŸ»
